Ryan Bigham represents all that is good about the Red Dirt music scene in Texas....true country; a little rock mixed with great lyrics and soul. Willie, Waylon, and the boys must be proud.
Nashville country doesn't hold a candle to guys like Ryan, Cody Canada, Stoney LaRue, Casey Donahew, Randy Rogers, Jason Boland, and Robert Early Keen.
Mediocre song, sung by a mediocre singer.. He would not be allowed to carry Zac Brown's guitar case.. And I am not a Zac Brown fan... but ZB IS a gifted musician.
@RexxWayne This version is a bit rough, still great IMO. Don't judge an artist by an 8am radio performance following an award night. Secondly, and Im sure the Academy has made mistakes before, but to call a Golden Globe/ Oscar winning tune mediocre is a bit inane. To not like his style is your choice; but the guy doesn't use auto-tune or have a studio of writers throwing him packaged "bubble-gum"...He is an artist, and a damn refreshing one at that.
wow what an awful singer

Proves you dont have to be a good singer to get noticed, you just need a great song.
Clearly he is not a singers singer, but the song is great, and the Grammy win proves it.
Congrats Ryan!!!

man... just listen to the version colin farell sings in the movie.... it;s much more beautifull.
ryan is trying to get that REAL COOL (lol...) raspy voice, while colin sings it from the heart with his natural voice...

He's awsome but he's not "Red Dirt Texas" since he was from New Mexico and now currently resides in Los Angelos.

@tmobb19 I appreciate your ability to disagree without being rude..
I listen to some of his other songs, and I do understand the attraction. I am just out of the loop on this one.. :)
cheers,
