I gave the definition for your benefit so you could see where I was coming from with my application. Without the definition, the application may have been lost on you. Songs are opinions, if you don't agree that those things are ironic, that's fine, it's obviously debatable and you never have to listen to my song again. However as one comedian once put it, rain on your wedding day is not ironic, it's unfortunate. So it is not as bad as alannis morissette's application.

I do know what irony means, I'll explain it to you. Irony is when there is incongruity between what is and what was expected. The savior of the universe (whether you believe he is or isn't) was not expected to arrive in a such a place with such little fanfare. The angel represents hope and purity, yet it is placed on a living thing that has been chopped down to represent those exact same things. That's irony.
