I am a regular adventurer. Or at least, I used to be. Recently, I received a puncturing injury to my right knee due to an accident involving a misfired arrow. I'm able to walk on it and the pain is subsiding on some occasions with proper medication and less lollygagging, but my job has been affected as I am forced into guard duty while my cousin, whose knee is still perfectly intact, is out fighting dragons.
Once this is done will the person be able to do everything he once was able to do or will this cause the person to give something up. Like a sport or lifting weights?
My wife goes it to hospital tomorrow, she is busting to get the operation done, wants to get her life back on track. The she needs to get the other knee done ASAP so her hips don't go.My neighbour across the road had it done a few months ago he use the Circulation Booster as seen on TV, to get himself going quickly,he was up on the roof after 3 weeks fixing his TV antenna,of cause I went crook at him,but he said he was ok with it.
with one of these would it be possible to do intensive sports an activities like triathlons stuff that involves extreme endurance or are you limited to light use

I'm 21 yrs old and play basketball. my knee cracks every step i take when i walk, but when i run its perfectly normal. can anyone tell me what this is?
I don't know if you have the same thing i do but I have the same problem. My doctor told me it was because my knee's off place and pops in and out of the rail as i walk so maybe that's it.
@marvelousmarv89 Im no doctor, but this to me sounds like a slight mis-alignment. Your age is only 21 years, and I would attribute any kind of a-symmetry to a growth spurt. While we are growing things aren't as likely to all be in perfect proportion, bones especially. Be aware of any pain, particularily severe, there shouldn't be and this could signal a problem. Growing has much to do with metabolism so eat enough healthy calories to support these rapid changes. You're probly growing
Hi there. Found a couple of websites which state that muscle strengthening "may" help with knee popping. Have a read through. Hope your knee gets back to shape.
Please can you help me? My mother want to get her knee replaced. Her knee is very hurt. But we don't know where we should access. I want to know how much it is. We live in Mongolia.
I hope that you'll response soon. I'm waiting you :-)
it's a pretty good vidieo. maybe a little old. i had a total replacement in sept. it still hurts but is getting better everyday. i was up walking the afternoon of the operation with a walker and 2 nurces. you will be put on a cmp machine that will work the knee joint for 2 to 6 hours a day you will be using it for the mext 6 weeks or so. if you are going to have a knee replaceed keep up with your pain meds and do your exercises.
i'm 22, did x-ray recently my doc told me nothing was wrong, but my knee gets inflammation all over, pain all over, sometimes clicking noise and pain coming near ACL section. Am I developing bone on bone, and do I need MRI.
@tldevilsh yes you do becuase if you dont get an accurate search then it will continue to worsen. when i dislocated my knee they did an MRI; they found couple problems when they relocated my knee and i am soon to get a knee replace ment or not. ( im not sure about the replacemennt)
well all be damned. I just helped make some molds for the femoral portion of replacement knees. Its cool to see how something I made is put to use. Glad to see our work really makes a difference in peoples lives.
Thank you very much for posting this, having my knee operated on for the 2nd time in less than a year on Aug 12th right knee is just as bad and a knee replacement is definately not out of reach
Soon I'll be having this surgery and sorry for the expression but I'm scared as shit!! Will I be able to walk normally after the surgery? Will I be riding horses ever again? How long did the recovery take? I'm terrified because I'm only 19 years old athetic person and I'm afraid I can't even walk afterwards. I have whole life ahead of me and soon I'll be handycapped.
@Bermufa Hello...DJ...UK.....It is a shame that you are so young to need this work done....However ..you will not be handicapped..do not worry..I had a knee replaced.. one month ago..I am now off crutches and can do jobs around the house and garden...After the Op. it is vital to excercise and get the joint working..it is hard at first..but time will improve,,I am 64 .I am ok. but cannot imagine 'me' doing any 'hard' sports or running around. Maybe you will, My joint pain has gone. good luck.DJ.
@Bermufa I feel for you but i assure you that all will be fine like you said your 19 years old which believe it or not is excellent because your young and your body can heal considerably faster. Best of luck to you i'm also having my surgery done this week
@Bermufa. If you don't mind me asking, why do you need a knee replacement? You are so young. Most of the time the patients are older who need such replacements. We usually try our best to do all we can to delay the need for this especially in younger people bc they generally are more active and will wear the prosthetic knee out quicker which means more surgeries. riding horses shouldn't be a problem. It is weight bearing activities/sports that will wear these out.
@thtktgrl: The prosthesis may actually make you taller or shorter. In a high percentage of cases, there is only a .5-3 mm. increase or decrease in limb length. So nothing drastic; usually unnoticeable. However, in Hip replacements I have had patients who exhibit a decrease in limb length and need a shoe insert orthotic to even out their stance so that they are not lop-sided.
To photo986 my mother has a really bad a knee arthritis and she is over weight being diabetic thats a no no but I tell you she uses for the rest of her life a knee brace with metal swing on eachside of the knee with belcro .. also to help the PAIN . she buys a liquid called (SOPT PAIN) and you can get it at walmart or walgreens...and it does help 99 % I hope it works for you...
I have a question, for 6 months now when i go up the stairs my left knee hurts and makes a clicking sound with each step. When i run it doesn't hurt, only when i stop or run full speed, it hurts and feels like it can't support me. Also when i bend down to tie my shoe it hurts. My xray's came out fine but it still hurts.
Would i need a knee replacement and will that prevent me from joining the marines?
The video is pretty informative but I would like to see more details. I had bilateral replacement surgery three years ago it was the best thing I invested in. My surgeon told me I need a full knee replacement. I have a Dizzy and balance problem and not sure I want to have it done. I don't want to risk falling and breaking my hip. Any suggestions from anyone thanks

I wasn't ablt to get up out of bed and walk as I was supposed to etc. .There only interest was clearing my bladder at midnite. To this day- I am still suffering nothing going right my way
I had this done on January 15, 2009. It is now May 6, and I am completely healed, I walk without pain, and I have full range of motion. They claim the prosthetic will last 25 years. It was an ordeal, but worth it?? YES! It hurt every step I took before.
