Its assessment suggested that it would be too expensive and too risky to remove all the soil with CW in it (you would simply be shifting the hazard to another site). The contaminated soil is basically OK if left undisturbed and to underscore this it was opened as a nature reserve post-2002. Children were asked not to dig. Our suggestion of a historic radiation concern, borne out by ward level data, was strongly denied by the local health board.
I used to have a girl friend who was brought up here and didnt know much about the place, I visited it a few times and always wondered why it was fenced up but there was always a presence of security around the place. Have they done anything to clean it up yet?
