Have lived in WV for the last 58 years, just turned 58 btw. Fayette county has always been my home and I'm sorry to say it's gotten worse since they made the New RIver a national river and the gorge a national park =(. They treat the locals like outcasts for some reason. Now that I think about it, I guess we were cast out, the government took away all our freedoms we used to enjoy on the river. If they talk about making anything a park or national river in your state, I'd suggest you protest it.

West Virginia is a gorgeous state. Why ruin it with mountain top removal operations, the result of which is clearly evident from satellite maps? There must be better ways (solar and hydro power research and development) for WV to thrive than taking away one its most defining characteristics.....the mountains!
I have a collection of your dad's work (I'm assuming its the same person) on my computer that I got off of a message board he frequents. I'd love to know who to credit these photos to when I show them off to people.
I moved from New England to Central WV in 08' and bought 180 acre old farm. I love this beautiful state so much. I feel so lucky to be here. it's only 700 miles from mass. But worlds away. Proud to be "West by God"!!!!

The pictures do not do her justice. Three years ago, my wife and I passed through WV on our way to and from a work-related trip to Pittsburgh (we live in coastal Ga.). I cannot water down my feelings: I fell in love. We've been back to West Virginia three times since then, and the love has only deepened. Seneca Rocks, Dolly Sods, and Lake Summersville ... to choose one place is difficult.
on a scale from one to ten this vedio is a perfect ten. a lovely song, beautiful landscape>>i'm not from West Virginia, but i have vistied this wonderful place...and the people are beautiful as well.
