  • Awesome car man. I have two 1965's myself, a 4 door hard top ltd daily driver and a 2 door xl hardtop with the bucket seats. Barry is in the process of building me my 445 short block right now. Im going more of a pro street look for mine, magnum t56 six speed overdrive manual, and 31" d.o.t. slicks. Have you gotten it on the track yet? Im really curious what these do in the 1/4 with 500+ hp. I noticed your headlights look like they have a plastic cover over the whole are, am i seeing that right?

  • Thanks. Barry's great, you will be happy. No track time, no traction with 235-60 x 15 BFG's..But l'm in a rural area, lots of room to "air it out". The covers are origional Ford 1965 Galaxie parts that came standard with a 427& available over the counter VERY RARE Corning Glass, Pyrex just like the bakeware. I'm doing a frame off bolt/nut restoration of my Dad's 1965 500XL P-Code 4-speed car and I'm giving the solid lifter 390 the 445 stroker treatment too.Good luck with your project.

  • wow that car sounds wicked, i must what kind of mufflers on that thing i have a 66 ford ltd that im put a 460 in and need to know those mufflers

  • @dex305mia Thanks. The exhaust system starts with FPA Shorty Headers into a 3" H-Pipe into 3" two chamber FlowMasters. I know you say your puting in a 460 but that is the sound of a STRONG Ford FE engine and they have their own sound. Good luck with your project. Warren.

  • ok, I will paint the house, mow the lawn, edge, and weed eat, wash the windows, take out the trash, wash your truck, do the laundry and call your boss with good excuses's when u don't want to go. all I ask in return is this car left to me in your will.

  • @ISpeedRacer2001 Unfortunatly for you I have two sons that helped quite a bit on making this car what it is (fortunate for me) so they are 1st in line. Thanks for the kind words though and the offer for help around the house. Funny I can't get that commitment from my two boys? Warren.

  • A 360 is just a de-tuned version of a 390 right? just the crank and heads are different?

  • Yeah I thought about that. I have a 360 sitting in my shop.. I suppose that would work. How are you liking your C6? And what rear end you running a Ford 9?

  • @Dirtsupreme The 360/390 have the same bore size 4.05" but the 360 has a 3.5" stroke steel crankshaft, the 390 uses a 3.78" stroke iron crankshaft. I am running a TCI StreetFighter C-6 & 3500 stall convertor. The rear end is a 9" design but I have a Currie Nodular Iron Center Section, billet pinion retainer, 3.70 gear set and a 31 spline Trac-Loc differential. The axles are Currie 31 spline Forged Alloy. The C-6 is operated by a TurboAction SSC Cheeta Shifter. It's a great setup

  • @hotgalaxie Yeah i knew the crank was different.. Its basically a detuned version of a 390.. I'm just so unsure what I wanna do.. I also have a 428 that I could rebuild but I kinda like the 445 stroker idea. all in all about how much was your engine rebuild and tranny combo? I know when I rebuilt a 390 before it was 4000..

by the way thanx for the help!

  • @Dirtsupreme Mine's full race, the short block was built by Barry Robitnic/Survival Motorsports (see Engine Masters Challenge) I did the rest of the assembl myselfy. Only FORD parts are the block/ front cover cost $12K. TCI trans/convertor $1400, Currie rear/axles $1750. Build the 428 with good pistons moderate cam, adjustable rockers, Edelbrock heads/Performer RPM Intake/750 Holley & headers and you got lots of power for half what I have invested in my engine.Vist "fordfe.com" and learn

  • Yeah thats a beautiful car.. I'm 22 years old outa Albuquerque NM and I have a 65 galxaxie with a 289 2 speed.. I'm looking to wear out the baby V8 and drop in a 427 any advice on motor mounts or choosing a transmission? i was thinking C6 auto.. Id love a 4 speed but I would hate to convert auto to manual..

    -Graham

  • @Dirtsupreme Hi Graham, nice to see a young guy diggin an old Ford. I suggest you go to fordfe, com it's a forum dedicated to the Ford series FE engine (427). Lots of guys there with 65 Galaxies (me too). The 427 is very rare, hard to find parts & expensive to build. Instead stroke a 390 block to 445 cubes with a Scat stroker kit like I did. I got 500hp & 500 ft/lbs torque for allot less than building a 427. See my other videos to see the engine build. Good luck, see ya on the Forum. Warren

  • have you had it down the quarter mile yet, i was thinking of this 445 build myself, right now i just build a 422 FE i should have it on the dragstrip this comming weekend,

  • @jamesmrmechanic Not yet, I'm still tuning on it. I probably will but not untill the fall when it cools off. If you haven't yet, check out "fordfe.com" it's a great resource for us FE guys. Good luck with your project. Warren.

  • Warren, what carb are you using? I can't get this 'street avenger' to work well at all. I was thinking of a 'quick fuel' or similar. If you're happy with yours, I'd really like to know what it is and where I can get hold of one. Cheers, Nick, UK.

  • @torino390 Hi Nick, I'm running a MightyDemon 800CFM with Anular Boosters. It's ok so far. I'm still still tweaking on it, I want to get it on a chassis dyno and have a pro go thru it. I have an MSD Pro Billit distributor I want to use that makes changing the advance curve very easy. So far the thing is an animal. The MightyDemon has no choke tower so it's one cold hearted bitch to start when temps are low, but not neary as low as it gets where your at so that might be an issue. Warren

  • nice and beautiful man im 16 and have owned one for a while u can check out my vids if u want mine is sentimental and in restorable shape nice soundin fe man

  • @polabexar It's great to see you young guys diggin these old Fords. I was rollin in a 65 Galaxie when I was your age. Good luck with your 65, if you have any questions about restoring that car feel free to contact me. I have 3 of them and allot of experience restoring one. Warren.

  • im only 13 and i have the same car but it needs some fixin up

  • @punkdudeone When I was 14 (45 years ago) my Dad brought home and gave to me a 1958 Ford that he paid $25 for. It was in pretty bad shape. But he figured I had two years to make something of it, I did just that and I was proud of it. You have 3 years to do something with yours. I wish you the best of luck with it. Maybe you will be posting a video of yours some day!

  • lovely lovely....when i got enough money ;-) maybe mine will sound like your´s

nice specs of the complete setup ;-)

  • I noticed the modifications made on your Ford, I did the same thing to my 65.. Stripped all the terrible looking chrome of the car, all the emblems. the strip below the rear glass.. A 100% improvement to the car..Great looking car.

  • @jeffbht Glad you like it. I built this car in 1999 and took it to Daytona for the Turkey Rod Run and every year since then. It was also featured in Hot Rod Magazine November 2000. I know quite a few 65 owners who saw my car at Daytona and told me they did the same mod on theirs. Getting all the trim off lets the beautiful lines of this body style come thru in my opinion. Warren.

  • @jeffbht lovely lovely....when i got enough money ;-) maybe mine will sound like your´s

nice specs of the complete setup ;-)

  • Pure awesome......Great car.

  • Thank you much. Sure glad you like it. Warren.

  • that's vid, not bid... damn this phone...

  • Is this 'Wreckless Warren' from the FE forum? Sounds very similar to my 445! Great engine, mine makes 478/505 and ya right about the torque, it's endless. Mine is roller, and a 870 holley, but otherwise identical. Makes my car really boogie. I'll sort and post a bid as soon as the weather picks up! Take care bud, enjoy the car, it's a beautiful thing! Nice part of the country you live in too! Nick, UK.

  • Yea Nick That's me! I'm lucky to be in a climate that allows me to enjoy the car most of the year. I hope things warm up soon for you so you can enjoy your Torino. That weighs less than my Galaxie so the 445 must be awsome. Enjoy & I'll see you on the Forum! Warren.

  • I love the car. I checked out your other videos. The car looks awesome. What size wheels and tires were you able to fit? And what intake did you use? I have a 65 conv. with a 390, and was thinking about doing some similiar mods. I was concerned about clearance issues though.

  • 15x7 TorqueThrust II's with 4" bs and 235/60x15 BFG Radial TA's. The other wheel/tire package is KMC Stealth 20x9.5 with zero offset and 245/35 front & 255/35 rear ZR20 Michlin Pilots. The intake is an Edelbrock Performer RPM

  • how is the hood clearance with those performer rpms? I have a 67 Galaxie with a 390 and thought about putting on one of those intakes

  • Very nice car and engine i am building a 390 similar just differnt cam I think i am going to use an xe284 h from comp cam it is going in a made over 76 f250 highboy. Do you like the stroker in this car?

  • Thanks, I'm glad you like it. The 445 is incredible, the fat flat torque curve is righ at home in a heavy car like the Galaxie and should be great in your truck. Best of luck with your build, Ford FE's Rule!

  • have you dynoed it? run it at the track?

  • 490hp @ 5800 & 510 ft/lbs @ 4200. No 1/4 mile yet, I'm still getting it sorted out.

  • I L-O-V-E the Galaxie. I got a 1969, a little uglier and less rare. But I love it.

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im looking at a 65 fast back by my house all new interior and the body is super clean orig paint needs a gas tank he's asking $900 .. think i might get it

  • That's great. Be sure to check the frame rails for rust thru. Check just behind the front wheels in the torque box area and in the rear from where the lower control arms attach rearwards over the axle. Bad frames are very common on a 65 especially northern cars from the salt. No new gas tanks made for the 20 gal 65 Galaxie. You must use a new 25 gal.tank for a 66 which also requires all the attaching parts from a 66. Good luck with your project, 65's are cool! Warren.

  • its been stored in side and its a cali car...it has minimal rust on it.... i got a fuel cell im going to use in the trunk for now

  • Sweet car, I love the '65's. Take good care of it! Great vid!

  • Cars awesome dude. I still think you might be surprised by a 770 holley street avenger. Check out my vid I got. It has no sound but i have no issue with power, but driveability is worse with the mighty demon. Now it sit on the shelf and i can't even sell it.

  • How much do you want for the demon carb? What size is it?

  • 750 demon with mr. gasket fuel line and cost me 560.00 but id sell it for 350.00 plus shipping. Also have the allthread adaptor for 5/16 to 1/4 in for the air cleaner. cost like 5 bucks.

  • thanks for the ride...next time let me drive..

real nice you have there dude...real nice

  • Nice sounds! Teasing us w/o the full wind job.

  • When I was little my grandmother had a 65 Galaxie. She had a different engine though. I never heard her car engine thump like your engine thumps.

Sweet! A strong engine is music to my ears. Looks like a beautiful car!

  • My Grandma had one of these lol I have old pictures. Great vid thank you.

  • Well done, Warren. That is history thundering down the road. Can't wait to get my old '69 F100 back together.
