The last time I saw George (possibly late 80's), I couldn't get over it. He still had it !!! He did more talking than I would have liked (they all do in live performances) to save their voices There he was in all his glory with that wonderful unique voice of his. He definately is in a select group of Country singers. God bless him always.
Such incredible emotion...How deep did this man run. He had a gift that was truly given by a higher power and this gift he gave to all of us who hear him now Incredible.
What's really astonishing about this is that George was about 65 or 66 at the time, giving one of the best performances of his career. Most of us sound like Walter Brennan or Granny Clampbett by that point. I remember hearing this version first on his old T.V. show; and after the first 30 seconds holding my breath, thinking, "... you got it, you got it ...". And, Lord, he didn't let it go.
Whatever happens or happened in his personal life doesnt matter to me his music is the best love George he has a huge talent and he has shared it with the world..God bless him none of us are perfect....
True country by the best there is,haven't heard this one for a while and as usual George nails it.Travelled from Byron Bay in Australia to Reno in Feb 2010 to see my country hero perform ,what a thrill it was to see him live, thank god for You Tube and all the great posts of the Possum. Its got me beat where they find all these wonderful live performances from years back, but boy I sure appreciate it.
This was the first solo i ever heard from George Jones, on the radio ( CFGM Country Toronto Canada ). I thought , " i got to hear more of this guy." 30 years, 3 concerts, forty LPs and countless cds later, I'm still a huge fan.
It's good to see all the great comments George is getting. He was born with a very unique and incredible sounding voice plus the talent to put it to use. It may sound odd but I am a retired symphony musician and have always loved George!!
i love him ,hes awsome seen him in concert 2007 alabama theatre myrtle beach south carolina,my bf took me this was my very first concer ever and i loved it
Wow! Just listen to the way George milks every word for all their worth. Very few artists in the history of recorded music can pull every ounce of emotion from a song like George Jones. This live version is better than the record.
My friends the greatest ever!!!
