MrJJackYT, I will not go into debating U.S. or Canadian history. Quite frankly I find it incredibly boring. However if I will comment on the fact that you are a perfect example of how Americans have a misconception of Canada and Canadians. I will say that although there are many ignorant 'people' in this world, Canada and the U.S. as well, it has been my experience in conversations with many of my American friends, that Americans believe in stereotypes about Canada and Canadians.

I for example live in a thriving metropolis, do not live in an igloo, contrary to popular belief when speaking to most Americans.
