. . . they don't need censorship - the time constraint is enough to keep guests from getting a word in edgewise. . . american commercial media is a joke. . .
I know that somewhat about that time - 1993 - this programme was cancelled, didn't it happen because of this interview with Chomsky?
And I like this thought of Chomsky that he proposed earlier that in free society and in totalitarian society you often achieve the same thing but by different ways.
A-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!! My ass... He just pwned Donohue and Pozner didn't seem like he wanted to start with Chomsky. I doubt any other corporately owned, nationally broadcasted news channel would ever have him on again. Not after saying what corporations don't want people to hear.
I'm curious. Since Chomsky is so well-known, what happens if he goes to a major event and other big names are there as well (many of whom wouldn't give him the time of day on-air)?
Do they feel silly at all about that? Or do they just say, for (insert large network salary here), what the **** do I care?
It is interesting to see Posner very sympathetic to Chomsky's arguments. I think it is due to Posner's experience with the Soviets and the disillusionment. Donahue on the other hand is very critical and seems not to accept Chomsky's argument.
Phil Donohue wasn't even allowed to have Chomsky on his fated MSNBC show. Or so I have heard. Also look for Jeff Cohen, he has some interesting things to say about the media, as well.
It did happen. I have been looking for this interview for a while, since lots of obscure Chomsky has been uploaded here, as of late; very possible we will see part two from someone.
I thought this was the interview I saw on cable, but I actually saw part 2, so I have never seen this interview. Actually, it is possible, as I recall, that he did three interviews on that show; another interview about six months later.
Actually, Chomsky may have lead to the show being cancelled. lol
I think its another Mother Jones or maybe another magazine, but anyway they compile the Pentagon & Clinton administrations efforts all through the '90s to get around the arms embargos Congress placed on Indonesia in the wake of the 1991 massacre
I wish ... I'm sorry to say that I don't. I found this show on VHS at a flea market, so if you're at one keep your eyes out. I do have a network of people who collect shows like these, but a lot of them are on the right and don't like Noam ... its unlikely I can find it.
I love when his ideas get down to the nitty gritty like this-- the philosophical bases and inner workings of institutions, world events, and people in general across the spectrum.
We're not biased, look how we have you on for a hour of a show that nobody watches!

This Wolfe guy just creates a straw man. These people always do this. As much as I love him, Hitchens as well.

At the end, cut off by 'concision' - after being interrupted every five minutes by corporate ads. A shame.

Hey, thanks for posting this. Any chance you have the promised next session (at the end of this video)? I wonder whether it ever happened.
