Well one has to define "max". Very high settings could be done in 2006 would Crysis been released then as 1x8800GTX could do that in 720p. 2x8800GTX could do quite higher res.

Ofcourse if "max" is 2560x1600, 8xAA, ultra settings then a 5870 or two will do the trick.

@holyman668 That's not really how it works.. The better the programmers the lighter a game will run on your pc. Now, Crysis has very good graphics so it runs quite heavy, but that doesn't mean it could not have been optimized more. More optimization might have given you the SAME graphics with a lighter load on your pc.
