LOL! Pepsi is always into this next generation thing. I suprise they didn't have flying cars in their commercials in the 1970's. Saying this is what they's be driving in 35 years from now.
this commercial isthe sukyiest ad ever. is the kid on the bike a midget? is the girl grabbing the cup of pepsi from a prison camp?nigroes on uni cycles?
my balls are itchy.....oh was I suppose to write something about this video?..nobody else seemed to so why should I,what a bunch of assclowns you all are!
Yah.... I suppose my life has no meaning bc I am a kid born in the 90's ... funny thing is I really don't see anyone who complains about kids not bing out doing thing outside themselves its almost as if its not only generational change but a society change. Given me that "in my day" stuff. Well heres one for ya In my day you go outside you get kidnapped.
ive been watching alot of these retro commercals from coke, to mcdonalds, to burger king and they all have these over the top signing numbers its so weird what was up with the 70's and these commercials.
The singing, called "jingles" were to make you feel up and excited about the product. Those jingles were done and SUNG by some of - what is now - the biggest stars in the music industry. Advertising was king back then. Now it's unimaginative and more of a hard sell: Buy it. But jingles/music in Advertising are coming back - Nike, Visa, Halmark, etc are using "old classic rock/pop tunes" to get fokls excited about their products again. So what's old, is new again.
I do remember lots of Bee Gees and Blondie and Heart was always on at the roller skating rink, nothing but Heart. I think that was carryover. I feel bad for those born in the 80s or 90s who weren't privy to life before text messaging, the internet or cell phones (or even affordable calculators!). I think I was the last generation who knew how to "stop and smell the flowers" without photographing it with my cell and uploading it onto my blog, and posting the video on my Twatter /myspace site.
I can't stand this new ****ed up generation with their damn cell phones, they shouldn't be allowed to have them, especially the ones with cameras & showing no respect around others or family gatherings while the kids talk to God knows who they just met on the internet, when I was a kid I was critisized for watching to many cartoons, but I always got plenty of outside time since we were always outside playing in the country, about 3 hours of tv on Saturday mornings. PIZZA HUT song - My Sharona.
People were generally more optimistic back then and the commericals reflected that vibe. Even love songs were still very popular. Today people are much more pessimistic and cynical and I think pop culture reflects that vibe as well. Eventually people will cheer up again. I really believe that. It won't be soon. This decade will be just as ridiculous in another 20+ years.
@GrilloJ123 grillo nothing was really up with commercials int he70's (and 80's because they also had jingles). Keep in mind that television was still a relatively new invention in the 70's in terms of its mass appeal and ability to familes to own a tv. Commercial jingles began on the radio to sell products so by the time tv came around, commercials had to feature huge productions to go along with jingles.
HAVE A PEPSI DAY ;)

U mean this century right? Cause i dont think 10 years can last another 20 years, i could be wrong tho :-P
ryf4165 2 years ago
Huh? If I wasn't clear, I meant the TRENDS OF this decade. I'm familiar with the fact that decades last 10 years and centuries last 100 years.

I said I may be wrong... Didn't have to go aall capital on my ass 8-)
