  • I remember watching this game. I was 15. Herschel Walker stunk, nice trade Vikes.

  • Week 6 from the 21st Season of Monday Night Football

Minnesota Vikings vs Philadelphia Eagles from the Vet on 10-15-1990

Final Score Eagles 32 Vikings 24

  • It was actually ruined when ESPN took over from ABCsports. And that was preceded by Disney buying ESPN. Now the telecast is watered down

  • Kids to 20 somethings... this is what Monday Night Football was like before ESPN ruined it.

  • @FrankieA ESPN didn't ruined it, the NFL ruined it when they brought in the salary cap for the sake of better gambling, I mean "parody"..That equaled less stronger teams and less HOUSEHOLD NAME SUPERSTARS..That combined with the NFL spreading the games too thin(CBS/FOX/NBC/NFL Network/ESPN) makes MNF a crappy product.. Back in the day MNF would get the great teams for 3 games each..No way today is ESPN getting the Packers, Patriots, and Steelers for 3 games each..

  • lol the month before i was born

  • what the hell ever happened to simple but entertaining intros like this! sports have fallen off so much lately...

  • The two helmets crashing! Oh man do I miss that. I was 13 when this aired and I remember the intros like they were yesterday. MNF really felt like a party back then.

  • Herschel Walker look like he could be Adrian Peterson's father, imo.

  • It says that both teams are in trouble at the time of this game- ironically, this game turned things around for Philly (went 9-3 from there on).

  • I wonder if Frank wrote his introductory narrations himself.

  • @FutureNewsAnchor Yes, yes he did....That's why he stayed on when Michael's took over pXp...He was allowed to do the "Howard" role and hype up the game..

  • so this is where the uber-simple ESPN MNF logo came from!

  • Bob Cruz: "The following is a special presentation of ABC Sports." They used that line at the beginning of EVERY presentation of ABC Sports back then. Why? BECAUSE IT WAS ABC SPORTS!

  • No, that blockbuster trade took the Cowboys to the Super Bowl. Many Super Bowl's!

  • @ukwarrior25--sorry bud, that's all I have is what I posted. Just posted to show the open of MNF, basically...

  • @phillyvideofan Thaks ok man, Thanks for letting me know anyway.

  • Can you upload the the rest of this game?

  • What kind of helmet crash was that?

  • @Nickfan001 lol i know right, however those graphics were so ahead of their time, didnt see 3D helmets like tht in video games untill nfl blitz in the mid 90s lol I hope the eagles bring the kelly green 90s helmet back, it was my fav. I always liked the eagles/vikings helmets colliding b/c the wing and the horn are almost the same shape and when i was a kid i thought they looked so cool side by side. so glad i found this, i got my own mnf eagles vs. 49ers 1997 vid epic helmet crash check it out!

  • Herschel Walker is a freak. He's now a MMA fighter for Strikeforce 20 years later.

  • we got frank, al, and dan we're gonna get this started

  • Gotta love the Bil Biv Devoe breakdown before the MNF theme kicks in.

  • Oddly enough, 2 years later, Herschel would become an Eagle.

  • @SpeedyRaven2000 And Randall would become a Viking.

    Awkward.

  • Noticed several clips in the intro came from the October 10, 1988 Monday nighter between Philadelphia and the Giants. I had uploaded the intro and the clip where Randall Cunningham gets hit by Carl Banks, regained his footing, and threw a touchdown to Jimmie Giles on my old WVECSpirit channel.

  • The opening of MNFwhich clashes both team's helmets is excellent!

    Thank you for uploading!!!

  • Thanks for thata...I've made the correction

  • This intro is actually from the 1990 season, not 1989. Note that in the intro, Frank Gifford references Herschel Walker being traded to Minnesota "a year ago," which was 1989. Also note the Super Bowl XXV logo appearing in the intro -- that Super Bowl was broadcast on ABC on January 27, 1991.
