Hi PreBburger band. I'm writing from mexico where klezmer music isnt well known, even unkwon. I wish to do a Festival where young could know that graet music, it culd be in december... please say yes...
Hello! I've listened "Yoshke" in Yiddish lot of time ago at my childhood (Joshke fort avek, noch a sho, noch a sho, un pojezd gejt avek). You've made a very good performing of the song, and also beautiful performers! All my best! Gregory from Israel, borned in Bielorussia.
Unfortunately no tourdates in Germany yet. If you know some places in Germany where klezmer is played please send it to me. I can try to organize our concert there.
Here are the lyrics: Nepeč pre mňa žiadne šišky, boli by mi kyslé. Idem slúžiť do armády, stratím sa ti z mysle. Oj vej, oj vej, už je to raz tak, Joške stojí na stanici, odvezie ho vlak. Oj vej, oj vej, nenachádzam reč... Ešte slabá hodinka a Joške bude preč.
PART II: Nekupuj mi stužky, mašle, aj bez nich som tvoja, kúp si radšej dobré čižmy, bude z teba vojak. Oj vej, oj vej... Ostávaj tu v dobrom zdraví, moja drahá žena, za tebou bude smútiť moja duša roztúžená. Oj vej, oj vej...
PART III: Vlak pred chvíľou odišiel, na hodinách je sedem, Joške odišiel tým vlakom ja tu sama sedím. Oj vej, oj vej, už je to raz tak, Joške stojí na stanici, odvezie ho vlak. Oj vej, oj vej, v hrdle viazne reč... Ešte chvíľa, ešte pohľad (a) Joške bude preč.
This song is one of the best songs on the album! The macedonian original song of this is beautiful aswell. It is located at MySpace. The original is coming from first world war or around 1910 and is about a girlfriend who is saying goodbye to her boyfriend at the train station as he is leaving for military service/army/war(?).
The style and structure of klezmer as we know it today is thought to have come largely from 19th century Bessarabia (Romania), where the bulk of today's traditional repertoire was written. It is based on hora, sirba, doina, all of them of Romanian origin.
Where can I find the lyrics please? :( Amazing song :X
