CONT.. get the information off of him and go to the inn and btw when you face the guards in the inn choose the option of going to prison..

What i did is when the guy approached you to fight lower your hands so he won't attack you.Now I recommend you have a follower for this, crouch down and pickpocket him in clear site when you do all the guards will be against you however your follower should kill the fighter now one of the guards will ask you to either pay the bounty or go to jail take the option of paying the bounty which is about 25 gold. After that they will let you go and the fighters dead body should be around so you can

for those having trouble just reload ur save at the beginning of this quest if u can then after u investigate each of the person head back to the guy in the temple and tell em wat u have found and do this we the other2 and it should work

Guys the best way to finish this quest without a bounty is to turn "beast mode" and slaughter the guards, then RUN! That way you will no have a bounty. Ps~if you do not have "beast mode" Try killing the guards and hide afterwards.

can someone help me? i did this quest up to where you must return to eltrys. i resisted arrest and beat the gaurds(all over the city too). i returned later to continue the quest by submitting to jail but they cant arrest me they just say im going to cidhna mine and then repeat themselves again and again.

@moonrock115 thats a very known bug, and there is apparently no workaround. however, you might try stealing a little worthless object in front of a guard, like a cup or plate or something, then submitting to jail time. it might work that way but i dont know for sure.

@spadehatesscrewtube see thats the thing every time i enter markarth i can't steal anything because the gaurds follow me and loop talk me and if i leave the conversation they attack me. still on a positive note my house in whiterun has a very large collection of skulls and markarth shields....mwahaha >:)

@spadehatesscrewtube i'm serious, ive turned sections of my house into trophy cases, my main bedroom has two glass swords with fire and ice enchantments behind a markarth shield, a cabinet with dragon preist masks, a drawer with mecklaces devoted to different gods as well as unique clothing i.e emperors robes. finally my right side cabinet is filled with alchemy ingredients.

also my downstairs alchemy chest is filled with trophies (its were i keep my skulls!)

@moonrock115 oh i believe you. my friend got the brilliant idea to fill the downstairs waterway in riften with potions, because they float. he's on xbox so he can't use any weight cheats like i can. took him two days real time but he did it. then the game crashed :p poor guy didn't have a save either. and aren't you supposed to use all of those dragon priest masks for a quest? don't you have to give them up to get teleported somewhere?

@spadehatesscrewtube i thought that until i traveled to labrythian to get morokeis mask. theres a wooden mask in a snow hut in the ruins, when you put it on you are teleported to a secret room in which you can place the masks on to gain acess to the final priest. haven't got all the masks yet but i will have soon.

@moonrock115 did you do it yet? im asking because im curious. i am so overpowered the games boring now. i have not actually completed (i think) this game, but i always hoped that in the end the character would ascend to the divines and have to fight talos to take his/her rightful spot as a god. if its just alduin, i am really going to be disappointed. that fight was ridiculously easy. and ironically enough, the two guys you meet in the mist can be killed. in heaven/sovngarde. sense?

@lalometalic101 You can either kill the guards, which is one way to do this quest (The wrong way) Which will result in a huge bounty on your head and murders on your character legend sheet.

However go peacefully and escape the jail. It begins another quest. You will be greeted by a silver blood who will say you have been pardoned. So if your attempting to role play a good guy, this is the way to go.

@StormOfLoyalty64 Yea i ended up by getting really drunk at the bar in whiterun and blacked out and i woke up at the temple and they got all pissed so i went to the front to leave ( kind of near the stands of food are ). It a murder that occurs in the middle of the town and this dude wanted more information on all these murders that were going around.

i got the glitched where Thonar Silver-Blood attacks me everytime i get near him, he is the LAST piece of the whole quest left undone for me, but every time i get near him, he takes out his sword and starts battling me, i try to kill him but he's immortal, because of him all the guards went after me and i killed them all and now i have a +3000 Bounty on me in that city -_- and still can't finish quest. fucking gay.

@Jjunior130 i always sneak in and just steal his info/key whatever. i never even fight or get that one bar/tavern attack sequance. i never even talk to half the people of this quest and i still get it done. also, always pop potions that up sneak and invis if you have them, it helps a grip. they cant aggro what they cant see.

To aoviding the glitch about getting the recruiter or just the two guards standing there and no talking to you, you have to talk to Eltrys after reading Marget Journal (Or talking to her) And then after reading Weylin's Note. He will give you 600 gold each time. Then, after fighting Nepos and Thanor, you'll come back to him and the guards will be there and attack you as it should be normal. That's the way to avoiding the Non-Talkers guards glitch. Thumbs up for everyone to know.

@TheRyuk23 i never once talked to eltrys and i still got it done. then again, my favorite past time is breaking gaming rules. i got npcs walking in mid air by shoving pots and kettles under their feet. then i played the theme to greatest american hero.

I know it starts automatically when you enter Markarth, but I never actually did. I've been there once because of the Night to Remember quest. I spawned at the Temple of Dibella, and left by walking through the front gate. I'm not sure if this quest was supposed to start as I neared the gate. I don't remember it, so I don't know if I missed it or not. Has anyone else been in this situation?

@StormOfLoyalty64 not that particular one no. it hinges on quite a few things. what i always do is save the chick the first time i enter the town, then speak to the bartender about her, then i avoid ALL fighting by simply stealing every key/note/letter i need from the people. i also just completed the quest by KILLING everyone in the temple when you are SUPPOSED to get arrested. skipped a huge chunk of wasted time, but in the process, knowing bethesda prolly ruined sumthin else

Why didn't you show the part where the guards attacked you? Kind of why I did watch this video to see if I should go to jail with the guards instead of killing all the guards in the town if it was meant for me to go with them and not cause a big mess for nothing.

@larsie21 - You are supposed to be arrested by the guards and do a quest in jail. You'll have all your stuff back and no bounty afterwards.

I forgot to about Eltrys note and only after making a lot of progress in the game I read it, then go to the Shrine and find the guy dead and three guards yelling at me because I've been asking too many questions. Later I read on the wiki there is this damn bug that makes you skip the whole quest. Haven't been so pissed in a long time, completely ruin the game for me and won't go back to redo everything.
