Did USA "win" at Khe Sanh? We "survived" and can call it a win. USA won every major battle in Vietnam, but LOST the war. It's a shame we fought at all. In 1945 we could have been friends with the Vietnamese people and if Ho Chi Minh was their popular choice we could have worked with him. Vietnamese didn't like the Chinese and we could have worked with Ho to keep them independant of Chinese influence. War was a damn shame for both sides...
"The United States won every battle it fought against the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong, inflicting terrible casualties on them. Yet, it ultimately lost the war because the public no longer believed that the conflict was worth the costs."
@NBmachiavelli You completely miss the point. America had no business in Vietnam in the first place. The Viet were fighting for their freedom. If they had the war material the US had they would have won easily but instead they overcame American big guns and big mouths and barbaric cruelty with ingenuity and incredible courage and determination. By the time America realised it was both pointless and untenable tens of thousands of lives had been lost forever and a scar still hangs over that land.
@CompactJam I understand your point, no argument here. I was simply stating a fact militarily. Your argument about "IF' is absurd...we can probably spend days going back and forth with "IFs" so I prefer not to get into it. I can come up with a number of arguments with "IF" on how the United States would have won the war...but again, historically speaking...is useless.
@NBmachiavelli My intention was not to get into a battle of 'ifs' but to merely point out that the main advantage the Americans had was in materiel and thus is not attributable in any way to the armed force itself but the economy that fuelled it. In fact quite the opposite. The US forces (perhaps like the French before them) appear to have deluded themselves as to their supposed superiority based on their material and weapons they could bring to bear. Gen Giapp of course read these weaknesses
@CompactJam A reported once asked Bui Tin, a former colonel in the N. Vietnamese army, how could the Americans have won the war? He responded, cut the Ho Chi Minh trail inside Laos. If Johnson had granted Westmoreland's requests to enter Laos and block the Ho Chi Minh trail, Hanoi could not have won the war AND the American antiwar movement was essential to their plan of victory. America lost because of its democracy; through dissent and protest, we lost the ability to mobilize a will to win.
@CompactJam When Johnson rejected Westmoreland’s request for 200K troops, they realized the US reached a turning point. As Le Duan Thanh’s struggle philosophy put it, “America is wealthy but not resolute”, it’s not just a matter of economic. It’s impossible to win the war when too many qualified targets were put off limits. I’d agree the US shouldn’t get involved in any war/conflict in which the policy should be, fight to win, 100% no holds bar (similar to WW2) or don’t get involve.
@NBmachiavelli I'm sure you're making a point somewhere but I fail to see it's relevance. We all know why the US pulled out of vietnam. If however you're trying to say that the US would have won had they supported a WWII style prosecution of war you are wrong and that is precisely why the Americans didn't fare well in Vietnam too. Westmoreland too believed in WWII war doctrine but he was fighting the wrong war. Unlike WWII there were no major cities to take or roads or rail to bomb.
@NBmachiavelli The vast materiel advantage the US enjoyed was largely wasted because thousand of bombs and bullets simply disappeared into the jungle without ever hitting anything. I may be wrong but I believe the small arms ammo to kill ratio was around 40,000 to 1
the second world war in Vietnam, the military is a bunch bad law, but the U.S. military is the guys frantically plowed land dadts find Vietnamese community, Vietnamese community but really gentle and easy to calculate, they are just nghung normal people go to war to defend the country
@thanhobe Vietnam is such a shithole country. Im really having a hard time understanding how you can stand eating worms and fried cockroaches everyday :/ On my hand, I would never eat anything from vietnam, way too easy to catch some fucked up disease that will destroy your liver or kidneys!
The ARVN lieutenant leading the patrol was severely wounded isolated from the other ARVNs. When his troopers took causualties trying to get to him, he killed himself with his pistol so they would stop trying. That's unbelievable leadership. P.254 Khe Sanh --Eric Hammel brook.
@lillx Vietnam is such a shithole country. Im really having a hard time understanding how you can stand eating worms and fried cockroaches everyday :/ On my hand, I would never eat anything from vietnam, way too easy to catch some fucked up disease that will destroy your liver or kidneys!
its funny how everyone thinks black ops is the real deal... well hate to burst your bubble,... ITS NOT... thats kinda why its called a GAME not REALITY! GTF over it
US army is very great, but their dumbest mistake in vietnam war was repulish of Vietnam, cuz Repulish of Vietnam can only make the battles go to NVA side
we should go back and finish the job....fucking Vietnamese...I find it unbelievable that we were beaten by a bunch of villagers. U.S. politicians are cowards and lead us to defeat, which was urged on by the drugged out Hippies.
@human151 That's not a nice way to talk to VNmese !!! You American are the one who went to VN first !!! You guys just want to steal our supplies like oil, wood, etc. when we had a starvation !!! We just want to be your friends, we are friendly but when you guys attack us, we have NO option but have to fight back !!! No Offense but it's not a way to talk to U.S. politicians ! Watch your way of talking !
@theannguyennhu I am free here in the USA to talk about our pathetic politicians any way I please. We are not a fascist communist government here...yet. We wanted to take your wood? During that time in history, THe United States was engaged in a battle against the destructive ideology of communism. Unfortunately the peasants believed the communist propaganda which told them their lives would be better under communist rule. How did that work out for you?
@human151 It's not work out for me! I agree with you, it would be better to live like your country, but your country have its own problem and mine too! I just want us to be fair, peace and no wars! In the first place, I have to agree that US citizen in that time have an issue. It's war, nothing can be predict! Just like German in WW2, they thought they won but they are not! US citizen need to understand that, don't treat soldiers like shit! They had enough shit in VN !
@stopplimertime I do know my history, which is why I made that comment. The politicians pass down containing rules of engagement and some targets were actually hand picked by Johnson and Nixon. And they did begin the withdrawal because of the drugged out hippie anti war protestors (I.E public opinion was against them. But, feel free to give me a history lesson.
For the love of God, please stop saying that Call of Duty Black ops is anything but fake... It is not taken from stories from vets it is 100% made up. The only thing COD has in common with the Real battle of Khe Sanh is the name... You need to stop trying to correct someone when you yourself are wrong. My father fought on hill 861 and was wound three times and won his second silver star on that hill. So for the love of god stop talking when grown people are talking.
@satisfy2000: We didn't lose shit. The U.S. government and Media sold us out. We never lost a single major battle in the entire war. Khe Sanh was important because the Viets were infiltrating the South entering through Loas. Khe Sanh is close to that border. Gen Giap and Ho Chi funkin Mingh got their sorry asses kicked by the 1st Marines. " 2 divisions of NVA threw everything they had against two Marine brigades for 70 days and the remnent walked away with their dicks in their hands. Semper Fi.
@satisfy2000: If you mean Viet Nam you forget that the U.S. wasn't trying to colonize Viet Nam. It was attempting to help it from going communist. It's the French and Japanese that colonized Viet Nam. The biggest irony is that Viet Nam a few months ago asked for U.S. help against its traditional enemy -- China. We didn't lose, politicians haven't any backbone and popular opinion in the States simply didn't care about your country or your people. Freedom is relative.
I guess my country not good enough :D, but why don't U.S lauch one more war with vn ???
Anyway, we hate everything about China ! so, if i can, i would give your country Cam Ranh Bay if U.S help us against China... Vn and China are not friend anymore, although there are nice words on my paper every morning !
@satisfy2000: Those who fight the war don't make policy. They just die. My best friend in the Marines didn't make it one week in the 'Nam--he bought it on his 6th day. I wouldn't trust the U.S. it isn't the same country that it was when I was just a little kid. It's now a full blown Beast. You have to play the hand that life deals to you; wish-thinking isn't going to change anything. I wish you the best.
@satisfy2000 we didn't lose the vietnam war, dumbass. The drugged out hippies convinced the politicians to just quit the war. If the damn politicians would have let our military fight ti win, instead of just preserve a stalemate between the North and the South, we would have easily won. Tell me one major military engagement that the United States lost. The Vietnamese lost over a million people fighting us, if our politicians werent cowards, we would have entually won just by attrition.
i'm vietnamese, and my grandfather have shot down a jet with a AK47 rifle, and he had killed 5 men !!! he said he got just 2 magazine. And he in Khe Sanh Battle too !
you fucking idoits i know black ops is fake but your just as worse for bringing it up and starting a fucking argument back and forth with the shit if you know your right keep your fucking mouth shut. Thank you, Dearest reguards - Asshole
Dude, this is real history of war of khe sanh where place is blood bath, took them months or weeks to hold this position, Call of duty was make up its just make people think they are real, but they aren't i know this video is real. Game doesn't mean anything but real life does, thump up 100 true!
@MonsterRob90 Actually C.O.D. Black Ops was based of of the Cold War, with Khe Sanh in it, I know its probably more than likely it dosen't look the same...
remember this I send this before watching the vid.
@Ideazonqa can you please keep your Call of Duty comments/details etc out of a real battle that Call of Duty Black Ops showcases with rather innacurate detail. for many viewers, a CoD comment on a vid like this is disgraceful, just saying.
@bambambow are you fucked? why are you disobeying orders, we must keep this base! goddamit, sargent woods needs us and here you are making a fuss. pull ur self together, and get to the fornt line
@degea9 Vietnam is such a shithole country. Im really having a hard time understanding how you can stand eating worms and fried cockroaches everyday :/ On my hand, I would never eat anything from vietnam, way too easy to catch some fucked up disease that will destroy your liver or kidneys!
All my respects to the men that died in the battle. After the base called "Vei" was taken by the NVA, Khe Sanh was surrounded. The Marines with great bravery and thanks to the air support they defended it. But then my question is why abandon it later?
Ok. for those who are saying that comparing a real war that happened with a video game should just Shut up! ok? I mean seriously what is wrong with you all? yea I know its kinda retarded that people start babbling about Call of Duty, or medal of Honor, or Battlefield, but if you guys its a stupid idea comparing real war with video games, how do you think they would've been invented? cos without real war, there would've been no CoD, no MoH, and no BBC. Do you understand what I'm saying?
lots of vets are treated like garbage right now, its not like their are companies out there that want vets ... but like they love to say thank you for your service, now kindly fuck off!!
I think that the one thing all us reasonable people here can agree on is that the returning vets were treated unfairly. Imagine going through what they went through and being treated like garbage upon returning home. It is sickening.
@celticsfan546: You need to specify exactly who treated the returning vets badly. It was liberals who treated them like shit and it was liberals who supported the communists. Get that straight.
America lost because the American casualties mounted up to 58 thousand American troops, not because of spineless politicians or liberals. Actually, thinking about it now, the politicians could not have been braver in terms of waiting till 58,000 were dead before they terminated the occupation of Vietnam. The war in Vietnam might have been apart of the cold war in America's eyes but it was a civil war for nationalism in Vietnam, the equivalent of the American revolution against Britain.
Shameful episode in US history. The complete rape and destruction of a nation in pursuit of foreign policy goals. The GIs fought well of course, but even they knew what they were doing was wrong
Poor conscripted bastards. Imagine that? A lot of us in the 60s would have been plucked from mummys bosom and dropped in some of the most challenging combat environments ever seen to fight an enemy that only left the field victorious or dead.
THIS SHOWS HOW AMERICAN FORCES ARE USELESS WITH OUT BRITISH AND ALLIED BACK UP! U.S.A Brags about how they cAme into ww2 WHEN THE AXIS POWERS WERE LOSING BEFORE THE AMERICANS HAD EVEN GOTTEN OFF THERE SHIPS!! AMERICA THE MOST HATED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD AND THEY HAVE ONLY BEEN A COUNTRY FOR 200YRS SHOWS HOW EVIL THEY ARE MODERN DAY NAZIS
@martynrobin121 If you looked at your history, you should know that although America didn't officially enter in WW2 until around 1942, they did supply Europe with war equipment even while Hitler rised to power. The policy was the "Lend-Lease Act," which means America gives countries like Britain war material for money. So, the United States DID get involved even before they joined after Pearl Harbor.
And for the Vietnam War, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines helped America as well. :p
@Andybato YES AMERICA WAS VITAL TO THE BRITISH EMPIRE WITHOUT THERE SUPPLIES WE WOULD HAVE STARVED TO DEATH ALL OVER THE EMPIRE! And america needed to give Britain and Russia supplies if hitler had taken the british empire and russia THEY WOULD CONTROL Britain,Europe,Africa,Asia,Russa,MidEast,Pacific.and would have been the greatest armies the world had ever seen and hitler the greatest leader the world had ever seen USA would then have been his biggest treat!
@martynrobin121 The U.S wasn't the largest giver of supplies to the U.K it was actually Canada, yes The Yanks did give a lot of supplies to Britain but not to the extent that the Canadians gave
@Andybato And yes alot of countrys that used to belong to the british empire helped! But vietnam was a fail yes you might have beaten the viet kong armies but your soldiers commited some horrific war crimes just like the vietnams! And american wars in middle-east is a fail!(Yes you have gained puppet goverments etc) But your have destroyed there way of life there culture etc! Your supporting Israel,Saudi arabia etc with weopans and everthing IS U.S.A NOT BAD??
@martynrobin121 Was your British Imperialism good? Like how you guys tried to oppress India and Ghandi? And how poorly drawn borders are the cause of many conflicts in the Middle East and also the Indian subcontinent, like Kashmir. What about the British wars and masscres in Africa that had no purpose behind them but imperialistic desires. You complain of America's acts yet forget your own countries sins. How about the American marshall plan where we helped Europe rebuild. Why ignore that.
@DerekS168 NO the british empire wasnt great but you guys wouldnt have a country if not for the british empire india would not have the greatest railways in asia the british empire has its good points and bad points like all empires remember britain turned into an empire started 1500's they took colonies and yes they did fight many wars BUT THEY NEVER EXTERMINATED NEARLY A CONTINENT AND STOLE THERE COUNTRY! Remember you americas are europeans and africans MOST OF YOU!
@martynrobin121 I don't remember the United States exterminating a continent or stealing a country. Technically speaking, Europeans "stole" a bunch of countries and made them their colonies as well as exterminate populations like the Belgium Congo. And without America, almost all of Europe would be under oppressive Soviet/Communist rule or Nazi rule. The United States almost quite literally rebuilt Europe in the aftermath of WWII. My point is that all nations have bad points, not just the US.
@DerekS168 Look at your histroy books most americans came from europe or slaves from africa who were immigrants in america after they joined the french and fought the british colonists away they had land and wanted more and start stealing other countries and lands off natives and you started to exterminate all the way east! And without america supplies the germans would have won the war and then kicked americas ass they were 10x better than america in WW2.
@martynrobin121 You do realize that the Dutch, Portuguese, English, and French are also guilty of the things you accuse Americans of ("exterminating" a population in N. America). And what about English "extermination" of Ireland and Scotland? What about English "extermination" of their own people just because of their religion? And clearly the Nazis were 10x better than America in WWII, thats why they won ::sarcasm:: You can't really accuse the US of something Europe hasnt already done...
@DerekS168 Yes i know what the europeans done in south america and in east america! BUT They are your ancestors YOUR ANCESTORS will more than likely come from Europe or Africa 100s of years ago. You basically immigrated stole the lands killed the natives who stood in your way like your ancestors but "Americans" wanted to expand! And the british empire was evil like all empires! And the nazis lost because of hitler and taking on the all powers of the world!
@martynrobin121 They may be our ancestors, but they are YOUR (European) DESCENDANTS. This can go both ways... If you say it is part of the American identity to be "evil" then it necessitates saying that it is part of an European identity to be "evil" as well. You might as well blame the world for the world's problems, which is redundant. There was probably someone like you back in history that liked to blame all the world's problems on the British Empire as well...or other similar empire.
@martynrobin121 Well thats just my point. There exists bad points within all nations/countries, not just the United States. Plus, just saying..., it would be less insulting to some people if you insult the govts. rather than the nation itself because nationalism in ppl kick in a lot. Like if you had been ranting about Bush, I could've cared less or agree.
@DerekS168 I know what you mean YES but the americans are very much like the british they love power greed and gain and when the europeans/africans won freedom they got a country and wanted to expand and exterminate the natives whitch was wrong but it happend and america became the united states because of the british empire. I have no problems with americans my grandad fought dunkirk an stormed the beaches of normandy 1939-45 he served with americans after 1942 but all goverments are evil FACT
@martynrobin121 There existed good intentioned leaders sometimes through history... I don't get your argument anymore though. But yeah, there are a lot of govts. with bad qualities. But I doubt ALL govts. are as ill-intentioned as you claim. Otherwise all govts. would be dictatorships. Idk...I just like to look at the world less cynically sometimes.
@martynrobin121 The US and UK aren't always right... but they're not always wrong, either. The fact remains that both are democracies, and as such act on the behalf and for the betterment of people everywhere. Believe that.
@stuckzipr THATS WHAT THEY WANT PEOPLE TO BELEIVE!! They want people to think america and britain are the good guys that they dont care about money and oil they want to help the world and make countries into a "democracy" and help people its all to gain public support giving millions here n there moneys that not even theres make them look good! But look at all the wars they start all the war crimes they commit they also help terroists and help lose our national security!
@stuckzipr Am sorry but that is a load of rubbish... The only time they ever have an interest in any country's well being is when there is something of interest for them... If they get involved it means there is something in it for them..I think Iraq is a beautiful example of this...there's no disputing it... its not for the betterment of life for the Iraqi people... and ....there were no WMDs....
@dorapha Sure Iraq is a war with terrible motivations- clearly Bush and Cheney's greed cost trillions and thousands of lives. My point is that the US (and the UK) have also fought some good fights- Korea is a great example- the US alone lost nearly 70K killed and has maintained an expensive/large military presence there... simply to keep the people of South Korea from suffering the fate of their friends to the north. How about British involvement in Afghanistan? What did the UK gain?
@stuckzipr ...In terms of Afghanistan its about loss as well as gain... The UK has rather poor relations with her European neighbours and is better allied with the US. So to keep the relationship up the war in Afghanistan had to be joined.. To top it off just like Iraq there was potentially a lot of money to be gained... Both from contracts that British companies would gain to rebuild the country's infrastructure as well as a share in that pipe like that the US was originally after as well
@dorapha... I like your perspective- clearly you are well educated and thoughtful on the subject. My larger point is that while our governments DO make mistakes, our countries are FILLED with good people who want to do right. It takes us a while sometimes, but we do come around. Proof? There is no oil flowing out of Iraq that doesn't belong to the Iraqis. Proof? The Allies helped Germany and Japan get back on their feet, rather than subjugating them. We're not perfect, but we try :)
@stuckzipr It's a bit of a mixture really... Some try and do good and others don't...Getting rid of Saddam and also the Taliban has some good...but the real question is...if that really is the main motivator for these invasions then how comes countries like North Korea, Myanmar and Saudi Arabia are never attacked??? Because they are allies?
@dorapha Yes... and here we find the balance: I agree that a "liberation" of North Korea and Myanmar is warranted, but the cost will be too terrible. China would enter these conflicts, and we would have world-wide nuclear war. We cannot risk the world for such small cultures... I know that sounds a bit thin, but I believe this is the calculus of war.
Call of Duty Black ops is not a valid source, so quit going on and on how realistic Black ops is. No body cares they are watching this video to learn stuff, if you want to talk about call of duty go to their forums and discuss it. Not here on this video about a real war.
@sniper77shot Almost everything in Black Ops are actually real. Khe Sanh battle, And how the Vietnamese disguises them self as the civil. A lot of it are real and similar to Black Ops, But a in Black Ops are fake, so... Let´s say it a 50-50?
@TheJasonDR #1. It was because of the cold war, #2. Canada wasn't in the Vietnam war, even if the USA never got involved we wouldn't have been affected by it. #3. Free country has limits, You can't go out insulting people you can get charged for harassment, and in some countries jail time. So you should stop being a complete asshole and acknowledge the fact that this video is not about Call of Duty.
@sniper77shot as far as i know,SOG recon teams travel in 3s, one-zero,one one and a one-two,blacks cock reflect it like it a entire squad went in and all the destruction was caused by one team.FAKE...
You may now find the correct answer to this question: "GOD, ARE YOU REALLY EVERYWHERE?" by watching most probably YouTube's longest and greatest clip ever: 6-hour Movies and TV Shows straight on DMT God 3.0. Just type in YOUTUBE SEARCH "DMTGOD", then select the Clip entitled "GOD, ARE YOU REALLY EVERYWHERE?" You'll really get into another world, that of Truth, spiritual Freedom and divine Joy. Good luck and be well. Happy Holidays.
Interesting, they're talking about the armistice of Vietnam, but not about the contract, which states that both countries are to be unified 2 years later...
My brother, who just passed away on Nov 10th, was a Marine who fought, was wounded and received the Purple Heart at Khe Sanh. He was also exposed to Agent Orange which 40 yrs later gave him lung cancer. And 10 days before he died, a buddy from his company also died of cancer.
what isnt known most of all is that khe sanh was the launching point for all cross-border activities. this was operations behind enemy lines which was mainly conducted by MAC V SOG
@puppieslover168 no, the battle was intense in real life. my uncle fought in it so a game played on the hardest difficulty hardly compares to the terrible things that happened here in vietnam
The second world war was the last war that was simply about winning or loosing. Since Korea it was all about the influence a war had on the world balance. Vietnam was a big blow to the growth of communism and there for more of a victory to the Americans and the western world.
I listen to the video of khe sanh. I was there, and the way that this is narrated, I have no idea where this guy got his information. This was not a North Vietnam diversion, but was put there and strengthened because of the Ho Chi Min Trail, and the close proximity to the trail. Obviously the narrator wasn't there and has no idea of what he is taking about. He must have his own personal agenda.
Strategy at Khe Sanh was the same as the French strategy at Dien Bien Phu. Draw the enemy in and destroy him. There were two major differences: 1. The USA commanded the high ground at Khe Sanh while the French were in a valley at Dien Bien Phu. 2. The USA had complete air power control at Khe Sanh, the French had only sporadic air support at Dien Bien Phu.
Watch We Were Soldiers, is based on actual events during the Vietnam war were just under 300 Marines fought and defeated over 4000 vietcon guerillas. Is an awesome movie starring the woman hater Mel Gibson.
@tinmontin its not the 300 that won 4000, it was the 300 with the backing up of air support, sea artillery support, ground artillery support. And 300 well equipped marines fighting against non-automatic riffles. Should you be proud? We fight with our hearts, you fight with your balls and heavy metals, and for what cause? Trying to stop us saving our country?
Did USA "win" at Khe Sanh? We "survived" and can call it a win. USA won every major battle in Vietnam, but LOST the war. It's a shame we fought at all. @human151 That's not a nice way to talk to VNmese !!! You American are the one who went to VN first !!! You guys just want to steal our supplies like oil, wood, etc. when we had a starvation !!!

@satisfy2000: We didn't lose shit. The U.S. government and Media sold us out. We never lost a single major battle in the entire war. Khe Sanh was important because the Viets were infiltrating the South entering through Loas. Khe Sanh is close to that border. Gen Giap and Ho Chi funkin Mingh got their sorry asses kicked by the 1st Marines. satisfy2000 5 months ago

American military never lost to the commies in Vietnam - the war was lost due to liberal hollywood types and gutless politicians.
Rentaghost76 1 year ago
America lost because the American casualties mounted up to 58 thousand American troops, not because of spineless politicians or liberals. Actually, thinking about it now, the politicians could not have been braver in terms of waiting till 58,000 were dead before they terminated the occupation of Vietnam. The war in Vietnam might have been apart of the cold war in America's eyes but it was a civil war for nationalism in Vietnam, the equivalent of the American revolution against Britain.
Aseeri09 1 year ago
Shameful episode in US history. The complete rape and destruction of a nation in pursuit of foreign policy goals. The GIs fought well of course, but even they knew what they were doing was wrong
Poor conscripted bastards. Imagine that? A lot of us in the 60s would have been plucked from mummys bosom and dropped in some of the most challenging combat environments ever seen to fight an enemy that only left the field victorious or dead.

Andybato 1 year ago

And american wars in middle-east is a fail!(Yes you have gained puppet goverments etc) But your have destroyed there way of life there culture etc! Your supporting Israel,Saudi arabia etc with weopans and everthing IS U.S.A NOT BAD??
martynrobin121 1 year ago
@martynrobin121 Was your British Imperialism good? Like how you guys tried to oppress India and Ghandi? And how poorly drawn borders are the cause of many conflicts in the Middle East and also the Indian subcontinent, like Kashmir. What about the British wars and masscres in Africa that had no purpose behind them but imperialistic desires. You complain of America's acts yet forget your own countries sins. How about the American marshall plan where we helped Europe rebuild. Why ignore that.
DerekS168 1 year ago
@DerekS168 NO the british empire wasnt great but you guys wouldnt have a country if not for the british empire india would not have the greatest railways in asia the british empire has its good points and bad points like all empires remember britain turned into an empire started 1500's they took colonies and yes they did fight many wars BUT THEY NEVER EXTERMINATED NEARLY A CONTINENT AND STOLE THERE COUNTRY! Remember you americas are europeans and africans MOST OF YOU!
martynrobin121 1 year ago
@martynrobin121 I don't remember the United States exterminating a continent or stealing a country. Technically speaking, Europeans "stole" a bunch of countries and made them their colonies as well as exterminate populations like the Belgium Congo. And without America, almost all of Europe would be under oppressive Soviet/Communist rule or Nazi rule. The United States almost quite literally rebuilt Europe in the aftermath of WWII. My point is that all nations have bad points, not just the US.
DerekS168 1 year ago
@DerekS168 Look at your histroy books most americans came from europe or slaves from africa who were immigrants in america after they joined the french and fought the british colonists away they had land and wanted more and start stealing other countries and lands off natives and you started to exterminate all the way east! And without america supplies the germans would have won the war and then kicked americas ass they were 10x better than america in WW2.
martynrobin121 1 year ago
@martynrobin121 You do realize that the Dutch, Portuguese, English, and French are also guilty of the things you accuse Americans of ("exterminating" a population in N. America). And what about English "extermination" of Ireland and Scotland? What about English "extermination" of their own people just because of their religion? And clearly the Nazis were 10x better than America in WWII, thats why they won ::sarcasm:: You can't really accuse the US of something Europe hasnt already done...
DerekS168 1 year ago
@DerekS168 Yes i know what the europeans done in south america and in east america! BUT They are your ancestors YOUR ANCESTORS will more than likely come from Europe or Africa 100s of years ago. You basically immigrated stole the lands killed the natives who stood in your way like your ancestors but "Americans" wanted to expand! And the british empire was evil like all empires! And the nazis lost because of hitler and taking on the all powers of the world!
martynrobin121 1 year ago
@martynrobin121 They may be our ancestors, but they are YOUR (European) DESCENDANTS. This can go both ways... If you say it is part of the American identity to be "evil" then it necessitates saying that it is part of an European identity to be "evil" as well. You might as well blame the world for the world's problems, which is redundant. There was probably someone like you back in history that liked to blame all the world's problems on the British Empire as well...or other similar empire.
DerekS168 1 year ago
@DerekS168 lol British kings/goverments and American goverments what the difference they both want POWER GAIN AND GREED.
martynrobin121 1 year ago
@martynrobin121 Well thats just my point. There exists bad points within all nations/countries, not just the United States. Plus, just saying..., it would be less insulting to some people if you insult the govts. rather than the nation itself because nationalism in ppl kick in a lot. Like if you had been ranting about Bush, I could've cared less or agree.
DerekS168 1 year ago
@DerekS168 I know what you mean YES but the americans are very much like the british they love power greed and gain and when the europeans/africans won freedom they got a country and wanted to expand and exterminate the natives whitch was wrong but it happend and america became the united states because of the british empire. I have no problems with americans my grandad fought dunkirk an stormed the beaches of normandy 1939-45 he served with americans after 1942 but all goverments are evil FACT
martynrobin121 1 year ago
@martynrobin121 There existed good intentioned leaders sometimes through history... I don't get your argument anymore though. But yeah, there are a lot of govts. with bad qualities. But I doubt ALL govts. are as ill-intentioned as you claim. Otherwise all govts. would be dictatorships. Idk...I just like to look at the world less cynically sometimes.
DerekS168 1 year ago
@DerekS168 YES SOME BUT NOT MANY! The british and american goverments are evil they are both the same POWER GREED AND GAIN!
martynrobin121 1 year ago
@martynrobin121 Not only British and Americans though...

MarihuanaPufFz 1 year ago
@stuckzipr Am sorry but that is a load of rubbish... The only time they ever have an interest in any country's well being is when there is something of interest for them... If they get involved it means there is something in it for them..I think Iraq is a beautiful example of this...there's no disputing it... its not for the betterment of life for the Iraqi people... and ....there were no WMDs....
dorapha 1 year ago
@dorapha Sure Iraq is a war with terrible motivations- clearly Bush and Cheney's greed cost trillions and thousands of lives. My point is that the US (and the UK) have also fought some good fights- Korea is a great example- the US alone lost nearly 70K killed and has maintained an expensive/large military presence there... simply to keep the people of South Korea from suffering the fate of their friends to the north. How about British involvement in Afghanistan? What did the UK gain?
stuckzipr 1 year ago
@stuckzipr ...In terms of Afghanistan its about loss as well as gain... The UK has rather poor relations with her European neighbours and is better allied with the US. So to keep the relationship up the war in Afghanistan had to be joined.. To top it off just like Iraq there was potentially a lot of money to be gained... Both from contracts that British companies would gain to rebuild the country's infrastructure as well as a share in that pipe like that the US was originally after as well
dorapha 1 year ago
We're not perfect, but we try :)
stuckzipr 11 months ago
@stuckzipr It's a bit of a mixture really... Some try and do good and others don't...Getting rid of Saddam and also the Taliban has some good...but the real question is...if that really is the main motivator for these invasions then how comes countries like North Korea, Myanmar and Saudi Arabia are never attacked??? Because they are allies?
dorapha 11 months ago
@dorapha Yes... and here we find the balance: I agree that a "liberation" of North Korea and Myanmar is warranted, but the cost will be too terrible. China would enter these conflicts, and we would have world-wide nuclear war. We cannot risk the world for such small cultures... I know that sounds a bit thin, but I believe this is the calculus of war.
stuckzipr 11 months ago
@DerekS168 Don't bother arguing with "martynrobin121." I tried giving him reasons as well and 'they' just won't agree with it.

Is the narrator Dennis Hopper? Sound's like him.

Strategy at Khe Sanh was the same as the French strategy at Dien Bien Phu. Draw the enemy in and destroy him. There were two major differences: 1. The USA commanded the high ground at Khe Sanh while the French were in a valley at Dien Bien Phu. 2. The USA had complete air power control at Khe Sanh, the French had only sporadic air support at Dien Bien Phu.

maybe the narrator could learn how to pronounce GENERAL GIAP -- YAP not G-I-ap

Watch We Were Soldiers, is based on actual events during the Vietnam war were just under 300 Marines fought and defeated over 4000 vietcon guerillas. Is an awesome movie starring the woman hater Mel Gibson.
tinmontin 1 year ago
@tinmontin its not the 300 that won 4000, it was the 300 with the backing up of air support, sea artillery support, ground artillery support. And 300 well equipped marines fighting against non-automatic riffles. Should you be proud? We fight with our hearts, you fight with your balls and heavy metals, and for what cause? Trying to stop us saving our country?

Read the book. The movie has a totally fantasy ending. The following days, on their root to LZ Albany they were hit pretty bad by the VAs.
