Looks like they are fishing in hawaii, there it is very common to sale marlin in the fish market. If you don't want to kill them, with alot of outfitters you need to make the araingments before you get on the water. Most operations there keep the fish to sale and that helps keep the cost of the charters down. More are beginning to practice catch and release now and advertise it, those charters tend to cost a little bit more. Marlin is a popular food fish amongst some folks there.
Times are tough ,,,, i have never had the oppertunity to catch a marlin,, but i do a lot of striper fishin in the northeast,, i throw keepers back all the time,, if someone on my boat wants it to eat,, thats fine,, he can keep it,, i dont eat fish, but SURE AS SHIT,, i reel in a 1000 lb marlin thats worth that much,,, im sorry its goin in my bank account,, which is really small

@vortxxe I am involved in fishing, both an avid fly fisher and employed by a fishery, so trust me I get it. But I fail to see the point of destroying an entire species for the thrill of the sport. I agree that commercial fishing is far more damaging however we have to draw the line somewhere, and if we keep destroying all of the top predators of the ocean we will be left eating squid and jellies.

Because it is the way things were "set up", i guess you could say. Such animals are predators, and they must eat to survive. However, we humans are omnivores, and though we do have responsibility as the (supremely) dominant species, we too must adhere to the circle of life. This fish was the prey, and humans it's predator.

Yeah life goes on and it's certainly not the end of the world but unless something is done (worldwide) monsters like this are going to get more and more rare.

@ultravox I say to you sir that if you go out into nature and disturb a fish by hooking it up and pulling at him for as long as a day then put a "tag" into him and possibly hurting the fish then having him go back out into the habitat hurts the eco system more than reducing the number of marlin in the fish by 1. If you go out to fish eat the fish dont just look at it! Its like saying shoot and realese for hunters

Looks like they are fishing in hawaii, there it is very common to sale marlin in the fish market. If you don't want to kill them, with alot of outfitters you need to make the araingments before you get on the water. Most operations there keep the fish to sale and that helps keep the cost of the charters down. More are beginning to practice catch and release now and advertise it, those charters tend to cost a little bit more. Marlin is a popular food fish amongst some folks there.

Times are tough ,,,, i have never had the oppertunity to catch a marlin,, but i do a lot of striper fishin in the northeast,, i throw keepers back all the time,, if someone on my boat wants it to eat,, thats fine,, he can keep it,, i dont eat fish, but SURE AS SHIT,, i reel in a 1000 lb marlin thats worth that much,,, im sorry its goin in my bank account,, which is really small
