@kingofpunk1977 I agree I was there also. I still have ticket in my kitchen. It was a shit gig, I seem to remember the bass drum overpowering everything, and the bass was way down in the mix.I seem to remember Hugh with his finger in his ear a lot crooning and John Ellis doing lots of unnecessary widdling on the guitar. '10' wasn't there finest moment but there were one or two tracks that weren't too bad. if The Stranglers had split, they would have done a re-union tour by now and made a mint!
I love the Stranglers but the 10 album was crap & this gig was shit & I was there.Cornwell was on a "Sting" trip & to be frank I was glad that he left. The Stranglers are better now
damn i wish hugh would come back to he stranglers. to think i was 4 back in 1990 who knew hugh would leave the next day.. best band ever. screw all those other overrated bands.
I was there, I took my wife for the 1st time, the bitch moaned all the way through "the family cat", "that petrol emotion" and "The Gangsters" by the time "The Stranglers" came on we were nearing the back of the hall. She was happy and I was, it was fair to say, a little pissed off. We left before the end of the set. The news of Hughs departure came within days and that the was not the only split, the marriage did not last long. The Stranglers were never the same or as good !!
Thanks, How right you are ! The Godfathers, didn't like them much. Must be getting old the memory is fading. The wife was still a pain , I remember that !!!!!!
haha amazing! hugh is the reason u split with the wife.cheers for the support acts as well il give them a browse. i love the stranglers now with baz warne and jj fronting it, i must say i never liked roberts much.. shug cornwell was class in the stranglers went to see him in motherwell and he walked off stage for someone taken a picture lol old fart needs to remember who his fans are!! fucking rats :D
How things change, I remember Hugh stopping a gig at Brixton Academy, don't remembe the year, to share a pack of beers with me and few other dehydrated idiots crushed against the railings. JJ was a little pissed off and Hugh told him where to go, I really thought it would come to blows and descend into a riot. Went to Hammersmith a few weeks ago and must say I was very disappointed, I thought Baz was rubbish and JJ looked bored, Maybe we are just all a bit past it.... Sigh
