@fredosayz the only aggressive TMs that i've read about are the ones bred in Tibet. but if you get a TM from a reputable breeder, aggression shouldn't be a problem.

It is said that the Tibetan Mastiff is the father of all big breeds in the west. They are the origin of all mastiffs and molosser dogs. So I guess you could say that the rottie is a descendant of the TM.

Tibetan mastiff is known as one of the biggest breed of dogs in the world, normally weight of this breed is about 270 pounds, but thats not what makes this breed famouse, They were known in a small chinese village as "guardians" because one took on a whole wolf pack with a silver back wolf, when they attacked his young owner. Altho the dog died but it took sevral wolf with him. And this dog is know as the most loyal dog in the world.

There are several breeds of Tibetan Mastiff: Tibet, Qinghai, Mongolia, Manchu (in Beijing , northern Hebei and western Manchuria) An average adult should be at least 90 Kgs and 90 cm at shoulder, Tibet and Mongolia breeds are even bigger.

yep, and he has a long way to grow...also his hair is short for Tibetan Mastiff. By the way I suspect the breed outside of China came from a small number of dogs as almost all that I have seen have black coat. Normally the color varies from pure white to golden yellow to grey to black. The most well-known is called Tiger, i.e. with 2 yellow coat colors, followed by normal yellow coat with thick hair around the neck (lion type).

most mastiff breeds are very good, loving, loyal animals. Usually, they're very good with kids. I wouldn't suggest one around a toddler, because of the size. other than that, there's not really any problem. I'd just suggest that a person would have them around many other dogs as a pup, because they can get aggressive towards other dogs.

You cant help falling in love with this dog. Mine is 6 year old and when it jumps in my bed like 65 kg almost breaks it down. But when the mailman gets near by, better watch it actually doesnt kill him. It will attack and it can kill a wolf.

The pure breed of TM can hit US up to $500,000 as far as I know. They are the oldest breed and hard to breed though, and that's where the value comes from.
