@Dudeman0911 Frankie Boyle is not a comedian non of his material is original he just seems to tell the jokes that you get after a celebrity has died and I used to like him
you guys are right his improv is much better than any of his rehearsed stuff...his radio show for example..funniest thing ive ever listened to in my life
me personally i thought doing life was better than scandolous, him reading the hackney paper seemed more organic and was a bit more spontaneous than the material on scandolous. But it is true he does need to do more podcasts and interviews with people his random jokes are much more entertaining than his rehearsed stuff
@owenhunt - This bit has featured in his standup for years - he tells the same story about the threesome in 2007's Doing Life, and he said the "if I audition 2 at a time, I'll find the one more quickly" line in every Scandalous show. Therefore, I would say this is pretty representative of his stand-up.
Ahem. I believe this is a piece of comic material that is more densely packed with humour than the status quo of his stand-up material. In other words, this is an example of his better work. If more of his stand-up was this good, I'd consider him an excellent stand-up.
As it is, I love everything he does except for stand-up. I really wish this was representative of his stand-up, but it really isn't.
@owenhunt Hmm... okay. :) I get your point, and I like some of his standup bits more than others, but on the whole I think Scandalous in particular is pretty darn funny! It'll be interesting to see what his next material is like - he tried some of it out at small gigs recently but I wasn't able to attend any.
:) Strangely, Scandalous is the piece of stand-up I am least keen on. I suppose the winner here is Russell, as his fans have assorted opinions on which of his work is better than others.
I'd like to attend a Russell Brand event someday, whether it'd be a stand-up show or not is a seperate matter. I'm sure he has some augmentation of his talents that is still yet to emerge.
Well said! I believe you might be the most articulate person I've ever spoken to on Youtube! ;)
I would like to see a gig where he was less scripted, more off the cuff. His small rehearsal gigs when he's trying out new material tend to be more like that. I like when comedy is spontaneous, rather than something that is performed almost word-for-word the same way night after night.
"Well said! I believe you might be the most articulate person I've ever spoken to on Youtube! ;)"
You make me gauche and quivering with such pleasenteries as this, but thank you.
I actually like all kinds of comedy, but I do feel certain comedians revel in certain styles as opposed to others. I wouldn't appreciate it if Russell came out and delievered dead-pan, just the same as I wouldn't care for Jimmy coming out and being completely spontaneous. Although he is ept at dealing with heckles
try a bit of eddie izzard then...virtually ENTIRELY ad-libbed and imporovisational, fantastic, he is, i love him, but russell is my all time favourite! :)
@hazel72 I must say, I've thoroughly enjoyed reading your conversation. Both because of the content, and because neither of you have made one error in grammar or spelling in an entire conversation. It was a pleasure reading something that didn't have fragmented sentences and capital letters scattered throughout it. :)
And I agree with both of you that it would be splendid to attend his show and see some of his new work, now that he has found his special 'one' after all the auditions.
@hazel72 like an oasis in the desert, what a relief, as well as a huge shock, to read a conversation of comments on youtube that doesn't seem to have been written by less evolved versions of humanity. Good job, both of you!!! :)
definitely agree, especially re Scandalous. I laughed a little at it, but for me, the radio show (and now the old podcasts) are what gets me in hysterics.
@owenhunt and hazel72. go flirt somewhere else

I personally think that his radio show benefited his stand-up preformance.
I think it was great medium for him to consistently try out new material and get ideas.
My fave bits of his stand-up are the bits that are refined from the his radio show.

You may be right. :/
I hope Russell gets that podcast together... that would be great!
