Really appreciate the video, I've been pretty nervous about making this move myself and this gave me some hope. I'm curious about how far out one can survive without a car since I would love to ditch mine. I'm looking at jobs that could be anywhere between Emeryville to Redwood City; I just don't know where I'll end up yet.

I know no one there, nor have I ever been there. Can you recommend some decent living areas that aren't too pricey? is everyone doing the roommate thing?

@WsupTony Thanks! I didn't know anyone either but have started making some really good friendships.

The Mission is a good place to live. Roommates let you have more room, although shared. I have two of them. ALL OF SAN FRANCISCO is pricy. You can expect to pay at least $1,100 for a tiny studio and $1,500 for a one bedroom by yourself. Live in Oakland or Daly City if you want to pay a few hundred less.

I've lived in San Francisco and San Diego. San Diego is way better than San Francisco. People are nicer in San Diego, the weather is way better and you have beautiful beaches and wonderful mountains and deserts near San Diego. San Francisco is a very expensive place to live. If you can make it there you'll be doing good for yourself.
