Holmes is still the #1. If he wouldnt have got hurt he was on his way to over 1`000 yards and probably over 10 tds. But damn, Sweed can sure go up and get the deep ball and has pretty good speed for his size. I too am a little worried about the O-line. If we can keep Ben off his ass we have as good a chance as anyone.
Holmes is the #1 receiver now, and it's not close. Despite missing several games with injury, Holmes had more yards and TD's than Ward did last season. Sweed is going to give the Steelers 3 excellent receivers, a luxury they haven't had in a long time. The offensive line is a problem, though. It's amazing Ben had as good of a season as he did last year despite getting sacked 47 times.

Hines Ward ran a 4.47 at the Georgia Pro Day in 98. I believe you said "Ward cant come close to Sweeds 40" you're definitely wrong, so why don't you look into it. Cause unless Sweed ran a sub-4.3 that i've never heard of Ward ran about the same time.

The Steelers are definitely lucky that Rashard and Limas fell to them. Really was a steal. Nevertheless, it won't be worth much if the head office doesn't do what is necessary to shore up the offensive line. It ain't gonna fix itself. Replacing Mahan at center with Justin Hartwig, might be a start, but there is much more to be done.
Man I don't like the Steelers, but I gotta admit they're freaking genius for getting Mendenhall and Sweed. Both guys I think will translate really easily into the NFL they have the right measurables. And I really think Mendenhall might start over Parker someday. He has that perfect combination of size and speed and he's got hands so he's pretty balanced as a back. Holmes is still the #1. If he wouldnt have got hurt he was on his way to over 1`000 yards and probably over 10 tds. But damn, Sweed can sure go up and get the deep ball and has pretty good speed for his size. I too am a little worried about the O-line. If we can keep Ben off his ass we have as good a chance as anyone.

Holmes is the #1 receiver now, and it's not close. Despite missing several games with injury, Holmes had more yards and TD's than Ward did last season. Sweed is going to give the Steelers 3 excellent receivers, a luxury they haven't had in a long time. The offensive line is a problem, though. It's amazing Ben had as good of a season as he did last year despite getting sacked 47 times.

Ward is the steelers number 1 and most dependable receiver. He is a proven veteran and still kicks ass. Sweed has to still prove himself in the NFL before being crowned. Sped alone doesn´t cut it in the NFL ;)

Hines Ward ran a 4.47 at the Georgia Pro Day in 98. I believe you said "Ward cant come close to Sweeds 40" you're definitely wrong, so why don't you look into it. Cause unless Sweed ran a sub-4.3 that i've never heard of Ward ran about the same time.

When I stated 40 times between Hines and Limas I assumed we were talking about right now not 10 years ago I am almost certain Hines will not run that 40 time now so like I stated Sweed is way faster than Ward right now I never stated at any time in there whole carrier who was faster ... you're really think guys get that much slower in the NFL? what you think Ward runs like a 4.7 now or something, well that's definitely not the case. Take Randy Moss for example he's 31 just last year went he got traded to the patriots he ran a 4.29 in the 40. Speed doesn't degrade significantly until you're in your mid-30's on ward. Darrell Greene at 40 years old ran was still running electrically timed 4.3s. You're an idiot if Hines ward got slower it's no more than a tenth of second.

I know Ward may look a little so on the field compared to some of the other more dominant NFL wide receivers but why don't you actually look up his 40 before you make that statement. easy up boys, I would have liked to see us take justin king in the third round but I think Limas and Mendenhall were the two best picks given the steelers positions in the draft; our line will be okay we got simmons, starks,hartwig now, colon, essex isn't bad marvel smith, maybe mahan will move to guard or something who knows...I loooooveeee our pix baby; go Burgh!!!!

Menddenhall won't start over Parker unless he is hurt or we cut/trade him. Parker is a classy guy who will put the team first and take a pay cut to stay here. I see this being the leagues best running back combo for 8+ years. Three more rings, here we come!

The Steelers are definitely lucky that Rashard and Limas fell to them. Really was a steal. Nevertheless, it won't be worth much if the head office doesn't do what is necessary to shore up the offensive line. It ain't gonna fix itself. Replacing Mahan at center with Justin Hartwig, might be a start, but there is much more to be done.

Man I don't like the Steelers, but I gotta admit they're freaking genius for getting Mendenhall and Sweed. Both guys I think will translate really easily into the NFL they have the right measurables. And I really think Mendenhall might start over Parker someday. He has that perfect combination of size and speed and he's got hands so he's pretty balanced as a back. The biggest thing i noticed though was his burst he has ridiculous burst for a guy tha's 225lbs kinda like... LT.

The Steelers didn't trade picks or anything to get these two guys. They were somehow just available at the time of our picks. Mendenhall was supposed to be a top 10 pick but dropped to 23. Sweed was supposed to be a first rounder but didn't get picked til late second. Go Steelers!

Willie was the leading rusher in the N.F.L until he was injured. Mendenhall was beat out 2 years in a row for a starting RB spot, Maybe in the future he could be the starting back but not soon.

No he won't. Mike Tomlin siad Mendenhall will back up Parker till he shows he will work as a complement to willie. I wouldn't be surprised if he comes out of camp ready to split time with Parker. He will be good at complementing Parker and will be able to handle the starting role if Parker gets injured. He won't start though.

If someone wold have told me we would pick up Mendenhall at #23 and Sweed at #53 I would have turn him into the police for being very high on an illegal substance. Now instead I must turn in Coach Tomlin for stealing him at the 53rd pick! It wasn't anything good our front office did, just luck and maybe a few regrets other teams will be having. i am a steeler fan but we dont have a good OL. we lost allen.F and did not pick up anyone else that is really good at the the line. so if you think the sacks in 2007 weere bad just weight for this season. the team starts at the line!

If you happened to watch the draft, saltycrack44, you would have noticed that at pick 23 there were no lineman available and rashard was by far the best player available. The same goes for pick 53.
