The female voice is Canadian country singer LORI YATES. She was signed to Columbia/CBS in 1989 and recorded Can't Stop the Girl for them. Has since released 5 cd's for Virgin and independent labels. She is still singing mostly in Canada.
I lived in Uptown in Chicago in the late 80's, early 90's. There really was an enormous Appalachian community in that area back then. It's pretty much gone now, replaced by yuppies. Kind of sad, really...
@fileboy2002 where did they go, i used to live in a town where on the south side it was called nigga town, now its full of mexicans, i have been wondering where the black folks went
@myvampire3000 Dont worry, we all are born alone and die alone except for the Lord, hes allways with you and the only relationship you should ever worry about.
I LOVE everything Gregg Allman sings and everything The Allman Brothers Band sang. This one just makes me get the chills. I think it's because I have a family just like the song. I am also Scots/Irish and I LOVE the bagpipes in this song.
I'm the youngest of 3 brothers, from southeast Kentucky (where NExt of Kin is set exactly), and The Allman Brothers is my favorite band, I usually see them live at least 3-4 shows a year. I have always loved scottish babpipes. This song gives me a soulgasm every time. THere's a bond between brothers that's awesome. Thanks for the post
This track is so so so so GREAT. I Love the backing as its tarts. It sounds like its irish of somekind. Then you get like a country western singer. After hIm a female singer with a fantasic voice.
Hey if anybody who's listening to this in florida play this song on the radio ok , It's truly one of the greatest songs that's stayed with Me ever since I was a kid , This should be playing on the air waves today not half the crap country put's out today the 80's and 90's country was real music , So play this let the kids of today hear it , and it might change thier life and someone else's out there . . .
