  • pretty cool, i gotta say, i congratulate the person who figured the king kong glitch out, and for people who think linux on the xbox 360 is useless, getting a computer with some pretty good specs isnt half bad, especially if you actually use linux (like me). its putting it on there that counts, and its a big accomplishment.

  • who cares about cheap, sure the payments on my quadcore alienware are more than my rent payments but does YOUR pc have a 3TB HDD

  • this isnt faked

c³ is the most famous club in germany and europe ...FIGHT FOR IT !

  • Why has this video turned into an argument over the validity of owning a 360? You are all diseased.

  • lol

  • the suspense is killing me...

    lol

  • dang, and there doing it on a core, shows maybe that only a core can do it i think. i dont know.

  • lol mr anonymous

  • wow, who cares...

I rather just play the games.

  • The 360 was hacked to do something it wasn't designed to do.You can't expect it to perfrom brilliantly and i'm not saying that you should buy one either.

  • wat was that?

  • @russian26:

"To the people who don't understand programming..."

that would be YOU then, idiot. It's 'source code'? The linux is a powerpc, sata drives, etc. It IS still a pc. There is already ppc linux, and even if it wasn't powerpc, linux can adapt quite easily to any architecture. Don't comment if you're going to be ignorant.

  • if this is real, its huge. For those of you that are clueless, do a search on XBMC. A hacked standard XBOX running linux equals bigger harddrive with 150+ games on the hdd, plays vid files up to 720p/1080i over the network or from the hdd, plays mp3s, and much more.

  • Isn't the 360 just a PPC? or a multi-core PPC? If so then it shouldn't take too much to get something like YellowDog running on it.

  • roger wolfson's hacking this, im pretty sure

  • just get a PS3 it's easier...

  • fake. :) he just added a video-in to his xbox. or not.

  • (cont'd from previous post) also, at times some consoles are beeing sold at a loss, to boost game sales. this means that if you can use a console as a PC, it is an opportunity to get a quite cheap, quite cool looking PC. not quite a pointless endeavor, eh?

but it's also useful as a proof of concept, as a demonstration that DRM doesn't work and that DRM is something that annoys loyal customers, without hampering pirates.

  • A few notes on this video:

    This is nothing new.

Though the xbox is basically a computer, it's source code is vastly different from a PC's. From a coding perspective, I'd think it would take a lot of modification on the LinuxOS to get this to work.

This code is near useless. However, some of the most useful programs are built off of the useless ones.

To the people who don't understand programming, please learn it or refrain from negativity.

  • What exactly is the point of hacking linux to work on the XBOX or any console for that matter. It's like some big to put Linux on EVERYTHING. What exactly is that going to do for you? Just so you can say you did it?

  • well i might be intressted in a linux 360

    hehe

  • It would be unsurprising that someone would hack a xbox 360, they're just PCs.

  • Booooo 360. I don't have a single friend that hasn't had to take theirs back for glitches and errors. Imagine getting 'can't read disc' twice within an hour. I mean. You're just getting into it and BAAm... start over sucker! I'll never buy an xbox in my life

  • longue vie à Linux !!!

  • Can someone explain this? Is this like some place where they chalanged anyone to prove they can hack the 360 and someoen did?

  • Ninja's could hack a 360?

  • thats nothing i know a guy who hacked coconuts with his bare hands

  • LOL

  • the computer nerd is dressed like a ninja...

    why?

  • not true, i havent seen the OS yet.if you can do that to any game (PS2/3, Game Cube3) now you have something.

  • wow NERD

  • This is a Video from the ChaosCongress, its like the defcon. It isn't a fake. And @redviper101: Because you can get a Powerfull-System for 300 $! O.o

  • linux!? you son of a bitch

  • seemed a little fake. if you are able to run any code than a better example is in order.

  • This is nothing. I know a guy who hacked a transistor radio and 2 coconuts to get 7 castaways off an island

  • Why not just buy a PC? This makes very little sense when you have XNA.

  • Because you can't build a PC as powerful as the xbox360 for the price of the xbox 360.

  • Maybe because the XBOX 360 is a lot cheaper than an equivalent PC?

  • I'm glad that the Jawas are finally getting into the scene.

  • good stuff

commentator seems totally out of place though

  • Don't know if I believe this yet

  • I hope this is real and more information is released shortly. I've been waiting a long time for this.

  • Fuck.

    Yeah.

  • it's pointless. the shaders in the king kong game were never signed. this is not real linux, or any real sort of homebrew code. he just modified the shaders in the game to do that.

  • The commentary is killing me.

  • hmmm... i really hope this is true... XBMC360 ftw

  • owned.

  • yea he probaly dressed up like that just for this prank. whatever bucko
