I was there this past summer In July 2011. We were the only Union scaffolders on site, building for painters and sandblasters. Been banging' clamps for 7 years. Cornerstone and Skyway=CLAC. Cheers. UBC 1325.
@kulan55 ahaahaa! More like fat butt welder nam Jim Bob. I enjoy the lay-her system as well. frame a 8×8×20 by myself with that. only down fall is those bars CAN BREAK at the weld, seen it twice and one was ABOUT to hang a leg, thank GOD he didnt strattle it yet! WOOOOOO
Theres no spur breaks (deflection spurs) to stop the spurs from bending (deflection). I can see 2 metre lifts but that doesnt take into account the rake of the spurs. I would install tube transoms and rake back up to just underneath the working platform, pre-tensioning the rakers before tightening the doubles, then install checks. rakers are always better as they are under tension and cannot deflect as spurs do due to compression.
Its actually "Layher System Scaffolding" (Ring System) they should be using diagonal braces to cantelever, but instead they have used tube as the braces.
using braces in a cantelever is not always the best way, i have seen the oscillating head of a brace shear off completely. the proper way is to run a tube across your system scaffold, check clamp, and then rake down from your needles. makes it a hell of alot stiffer for that fat ass pipefitter that will be up there.
we have a huge livingroom (in heighth) about 35 feet and we got a scafold in my living room to paint. its so much fun to hang off but its scary as hell haha
i scaffold in vancouver BC, i head out to fort mac once in a while things are different there. they are serios about their saftey and proper building technique. but fuck is it ever slow. we build it here 5x faster and we are crazy fucks. and oh YEAH.... that is tubeNclamp but theres some allround there( sure-lock) thrown into the mix.
Why didn't they just move the site cabin, would have been cheaper and the job would have went up quicker... FAIL

@kulan55 Braces are Braces , they aren't actually rated for weight . You are better off using tube and clamp with a check clamp .
