Lol wow for that sems easy to me and i just got done with my 1st year of pointe! we were doing more than that!! well not the 1st 2 lessons lol we just were puting on mole skin and learning to tie them then we were learning to walk across the floor lol.
In the Vaganova syllabus, pointe is in the second half of the first year. However, they start no earlier than age 10 in the first year, and classes are every day, and the beginning pointe exercises do not start with assembles but only simpler exercises like releves and echappes and pas suivi. Also, pointe is only for a few minutes at the end of class. Dancers are auditioned before entering the first year to make sure their legs are strong. Amateurs must wait until the legs are strong.
lol, i don't think i was able to do that when i first started pointe! lol, that's maybe just a bit to much! for beginers, you should start at the begining!
There are dancers, true dancers, who can learn Pointe, with little or no formal dance. God is not prejudiced. He gives talent to lots of people. Not just those who can afford ballet class for 18 years.
God is not prejudiced but He does operate in wisdom. you don't have to dance for 18 years to learn pointe but you do have to have a foundation. no man builds a house on a weak foundation. if you are not strong you will get injured.
Completely agree with you 29psalm. rardances, I'm sorry but its completely impossible to do pointe work without the proper tuition beforehand. I'm not saying that there aren't people who need less tuition than others, but no decent dance school will let a girl start pointe without a good few years demipointe/softshoe work, normally at least 6.
I just started pointe with no ballet experience and I've been doing really good at it! No offense but you seem so strict their and my pointe teacher is tons of fun but she teaches us everything we need 2 know.
Ohhhhhhhh....I LOVE pointe, but my mom refuses to let me do it. I've been taking ballet for four years, and she absolutely will not let me. She thinks I'll break my leg because I'm so clumsy. :(
If you are strong, and plie with knees over the toes, turn out, stretch, pointe through the foot, you will be fine. You can tell your mother that you are much more likely to break your leg by landing without a plie or without going through your foot after a jump.
my pointe shoes died this week, and i have to get new ones, my current (and dead) ones are grishko's 2007's. does anyone have a favorite brand i should try?
i am 11 and i am great on pointe. me and my friend addy are like the best ones in my class and i will be performing with the sanfransisco ballet soon dancing as the second sugar plum fairy.
they are second class meaning entermidete they are at least 12

None of them 'snatch' on the releve...
The platform is meant to replace the heel..
And the woman seems kinda scary!

How can you handle pointe if you've done no ballet. I'm not saying you can't be talented but jesus. Take it easy.

it will not take you 2 years. If you work really really hard and take alot of classes then you can get it earler.

your mother should not be worried, i started doing pointe a few months ago and the only you can get is a blister, but you won´t break your leg
Saaabri 3 years ago
I did pointe for years and your feet really do get messed up, but it's rare to actually break your leg. You can break toes, though and lose toenails.
KarenEngelhardt 3 years ago
I've lost my toenails so many times, its sickening. haha, I hate pointe, but im forced to do it which stinks.
ryan1733 2 years ago
Everyone I know who does pointe, they don't have messed up feet.
