  • I remember telling Robert that i might be able to get him a job in a store front window,

    thankfully for him, he declined!

  • This video was shot (in 16 millimiter film) and edited by my late husband, Richard Scott, for a wonderful show called Rno Magers' Electric Impressions on KPIX.

  • robert and i were friends in the seventies when shields and yarnell performed at our place in palo alto, the new varsity. i was fortunate to stay at their home in l.a. and to get to see his then very small room where he created beautiful sculpture. he is a great guy, and a huge talent. randy lutge

  • Amazing Energy!

  • Hopefully he got permits to do this stuff!

  • So freaking cute! Just heard early this morning that Yarnell passed away yesterday. RIP

  • Love Robert Sheilds, I am a dancer that started in San Francisco and got to see him all the time, met him too. So glad there will be a documentary coming out about him!

  • & Michael Jacksons moonwalk was inspired by his robotic moves. They were friends.

  • @itsabouttimebitch That's not true. The Moonwalk, which was actually called the backslide and was from the west coast dancers and not Shields. Shields was a mime with robotic moves, but even his robotic origins is questionable, seeing that The Lockers was doing it before M.J. and during the early 70's. Michael was doing the robot during the early 70's way before the Moonwalk but he didn't create neither nor did Shields.

  • I was walking through Union Square one day and I decided to be brave and make a go for the walk through Roberts territory so to speak and he got me......LOL it was great...

  • @bkatayab That is awesome. Both your post, and the fact that something is called "Robert's Territory". Just the notoriety of the fact that he messes with people is awesome, too.

  • Now if they can only do their Robot Dance to Leann Rimes's "Can't Fight The Moonlught" on "So You Think You Can Dance"..THAT WOULD BE PERFECT!!!!

  • I saw Sheilds & Yarnell perform in San Diego in 2007; they are still absolutely fantastic!

  • i love shields and yarnell

  • This guy should have been a major major movie star...

  • hahaha wow really made me laugh truly some funny ass shit im still laughing

dude was a fool in a really cool respectable and entertaining way

  • Unfortunately I've never seen his act live.

  • I loved how he does that sliding thing and the fact that they looked so much alike. Very talented! Sorry they are no longer married.

  • He's living in Sedona, Arizona. I actually just met him at an art festival where he was showcasing his art. What a talented man!!!

  • i live in vancouver canada

i really do wish i could meet him too.

have you ever seen his performance live?

  • @BobDylan1201

    Giftedhis whole life.

  • Funny and really good. I miss the old Union Sq. the redesigned plaza has no real atmosphere. Thanks for posting this rare clip.

  • hes funni wearin my chemical romance looking clothes.. makes him even more cool :D xxx

  • Dedicating this comment to Marcel Marceau on the night of his passing. Merci Marcel!

The last time I saw D. Shields he was buying a book at the Bodhi Tree. He's an amazing man and a superb mime. Hi Dave!

God Bless and rest in peace, Marcel Marceau.

  • What is astonishing is that Robert Shields was in the Bodhi Tree the same night as Dave Shields.

And even more amazing, Robert Shields' mime performance outshines Dave Shields, and even D. Shields!

    Hello Robert!

Merci Marcel Marceau. God Bless you. Rest in peace.

  • It's great to see this footage after all these years. I remember loving him when I was little.

  • fantastic! where is he now?

  • @flairboys

Robert now lives in Sedona, Arizona. In addition to his phenomenal mine work
