I remember being disturbed by their shows as a kid. Now I rediscovered them thanks to "Pinky and the Brain" series, and it's fun to watch another forgotten masterpiece from times, when art was really innovative and creative. CGI technology is really soulless compared to this. Are there any similar artists today?
I have just returned from the show here in Guatemala, it was AWSOME!! figures, shapes, colours, too fun and without a simple word... without even music! My respect and admiration to these entertainers.

They still perform around Europe, we had them in Italy a couple of years ago and it was the best New Year's Day I ever had! I understand they also have workshops throughout the year, drama classes and so forth.

There is no accounting for comedy. I wonder at the social/cultural background of those who find this childish abstraction amusing.

I hadn't thought of Mummenschanz in ages until tonight when a friend brought them up in conversation. Couldn't wait to get home to look them up.
In this age of CG and other digital technology, it seems too easy to forget what delight can be brought with some imagination and simple invention.
