  • After the whole intricate rig.... the fucking camera goes outside the car and the car looked very very normal. WTF!

  • I slept on this film, but I have to say it is one of the best post apocalyptic films I've ever seen. Great job Alfonso Cuaron...

  • very clever.

  • There are actually several cuts woven into one which makes it look like it is one, clever stuff really :)

  • one of the most underrated films in history

  • How Alfonso Cuaron was not nominated for Best Director by the academy just proves more and more how fucking foolish they are.

  • this is awsome!!!

  • Great film! This is art! Alfonso is a true artirst

  • thumbs up for this Short Film

  • gee whiz offline peeps r faggots inckluing bobby

  • Absolute genius.

  • michael caine at his best^^ even since alfred hitchcocks frenzy

  • marriage and get a trusted women Online *lushfmlk.info*

  • easily one of the most underrated movies of all time

  • @amd9012 I totally agree!

  • This film is definitely in my top 5 of all time.

  • Did kee really give birth?? the camera actually shows the baby coming out !!

  • @curiousboy

    It was CG

  • wow, i want my future boyfriend to be as passionate, intelligent and as special as Alfonso Cuaron... <3 <3 <3

  • All I know is when I watched this movie I was completely immersed in the world

  • The story itself was "meh", but holy s**t at the cinematography in this movie.

  • wow as an aspiring director, this is truly a great film that must be admired. Spectacular work from Cuaron and the whole cast.

  • It's actually brilliant film making. How did this get no oscar nominations? Gotta love this movie, the long takes really make it more intense then most films ever made.

  • @ritsfata

Err, it won an Oscar... lol

  • @GarebearShields Ok, right. But it wasn't nominated for best film, and it could have totally won that thing.

  • @ritsfata

    No argument there.(:

  • I think they should be talking about the ending scene where clive owen is in the urban combat scene and the take goes for like 15 minutes and spans like four blocks. it was pure amazing

  • I'm speechless when it comes to telling how incredible this film is.

  • Sincerely, I didnt think much of this film when I first saw it. After reading an article about GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms), which is pretty much everything most of us eat, causing mice to stop reproducing in their third generation after consuming GM foods only, I changed my mind. Fuck Ronald Reagan who allowed this to start and most of all fuck MONSANTO.

  • the camera work more than compensated for the script and plot

  • one of my most respected movies.

  • why this received no academy awards, i suppose we'll never know. what an atrocity of modern cinema.

  • The Best Director in México...

  • The one thing I liked the most about this film was the cinematography . Was like watching a living painting.

  • the best film :D my favorite movie (L)

  • My favorite movie, the film is like a urban painting.

  • This is one of my favorite movies. The cinematography, the sound track, the location my god was better than perfect cold and bleak never looked so beautiful, one thing though the film takes place in mid/late november all the trees in the film still are full with green leaves. This movie could have not been done at any other time, you needed these actors. Clive Owens best movie/acting to date imo.

  • Except for one HUGE continuity blooper, it's a great movie! When they are attacked in the car at around 27 min in the movie, the front window is smashed, so is the side window! When they 5 mintues later drive again, the windows are all intact! Tsk tsk!

  • You're the blooper. Luke change cars, you see him arrive in a different car after they buried Julian.

The interior is different as well, how could you miss that?

  • Comment removed

  • This film is incredible. If a filmmaker really wants to make his bones in Hollywood, he'd be wise to attempt action-oriented tracking shots like the ones in "Children of Men". It makes the action ten times more exciting.

  • yeah and after people say cinema is not an art. its fascinating all the work you can do for 30secondes... bravo

  • SO BRILLIANT SO SO SO BRILLIANT

thanks for uploading this! it's a marvel of a movie!

  • thats what all producers think all the time.

    in video and photo...

  • As the producer I'd be thinking "DAMN bitch you killin me! Fuck your artistic vision and just film the shit!"

  • One of the best movies ever made. The cinematography is something new to me and is quite superb actually. The casting is exemplary and the acting first class. Even though the idea of worldwide infertility is considered to be quite flimsy, I still think that the storyline is remarkable and kept me glued to the screen 100%. It's a shame that the movie didn't win any Oscar. It was nominated in three categories and if it were my way, I'd hand them a golden statue for each one. The movie's that good.

  • I agree.

This is one of my top fave movies ever, along with The Beach.

Anyone who thinks this movie is boring or badly made, doesn't understand this film, and its purpose.

It covers many issues, phiolosophical and mroalistic. It even delves into a bit of transhumanism and how detatched a human can be when seperated from the real world.

It shows you how pointless life would be without children. There would be no essential goal (this goes within the philosophical arena).

    I love this movie!

  • 7:10 wtf there are people walking by and it explodes :| :| and that part of this clip wasn't in the movie... I mean from that camera angle... how did that person walk right in front of that without getting hurt?

  • Whenever I see this I stiil always wonder how close the front wheel of the bike came to the *front* drivers head and whether they planned that,

and how did they flip the bike?

    Cheers, great movie

  • Actually, the bike flip was entirely digital. For safety reasons they used a real bike up until the moment Theo hits it with the car door.

  • Juliane Mooore is one of my fav, actresses!

  • my favorite long takes are in the two last scenes

  • it is compositing

  • great film!

BUT how do they do the end of the shot where the camera EXITS THE CAR and the car looks normal???

btw stop replying to the trolls like snackpimper they just comment to annoy and some of you are falling for it.

  • oh and how did they make the bike flip up like that?

    Cheers

  • The scene is spliced from two shots. They did the interior in one take and the exterior in another, and used CGI to splice them together, to make it look like one long continuous take.

  • i read somewhere that the long shots are aided by CGI

  • I loved this movie.

The entire last scene was all one cut which i loved.

  • You have to love how this movie proves you can have great action film without tons of CGI and using ridiculous action scenes. I really like how this movie has tons of visual art in it as well, but does in the background.

  • i love this movie

  • Children of Men, is one of those movies that you see in the theater. And when you buy the dvd and watch it at home. Your still in the theater opening night.

  • Unmatched sophistication, attention to detail, realism, camera work, life essence captured beautifully.

Who needs a twisty turny hollywood plot when you have all of this :P

  • Yeah, you can see the chairs moving a bit.

  • Un-fucking-believable movie.

  • amazing!

  • The battle scenes in this movie are probably more impressive than Saving Private Ryan, which says A LOT.

  • 100,000th veiw!

Great video, fucking best movie i have ever watched.

  • That's the reason this movie is freaking cool is because there are not cuts or littles one is just all fluid like the war scene when he is like dodging bullets and tanks who pass through

  • That car scene was amazing.

  • OMG!! I love that film, and especially the car scene!!!

  • Renault Avantime is the car they used

  • OK, but i don´t know how they maked the car scene, because, i know what they used a special camera like a crane, but in the last minutes of the scene, the camera leaves the car and do not see the entire production team around the car.

  • there was a moment where the car is not in the shot, in that time, the normal car was exchanged for the rigged car

  • I think the part where the windshield breaks is where they swap cars. No actors are in the shot and if you pay attention you can see that the camera shakes, probably to mask any changes in between the first shot and the second.

  • yeah, but i saw that paying more attention and i think the camera shakes to highlight the visual effect of the windshield breking. I think the cut it was when the main character (i don´t remember´s name) leave the car and a door pass and the door goes right in front of the camera.

  • Theo is his name and I was thinking the same thing too.

  • am i the only one who thought this movie seemed very related to the nativity story...in the way of protecting the pregnant woman at any cost who got pregnanat in very unusual circumstances

  • well yeah this movie is very biblical

  • no :)

  • i really liked this film, but the guy driving was shite ahah :P, i mean surely he could have just drovve round the car. I guess it goes against the story line but i hate moments when people are happy and then they just rip the scene in half, i like it but i hatei it if you get me hah :P XD! GREAT FILM.

Amazing how they did these shots.

  • Of course he could have avoided the car. If you remember the plot twist about 10-15 minutes later you'll remember why he didn't.

  • I thought the car scene was done literally with a camera guy sat in the car! Now I see the lengths they went - this scene and the last big one which is one outrageously long take deserved to win this an Oscar by a mile.

  • Best picture of the year, best picture of the millenium. Hands down - perfection.

No movie could have been made better than this. Genius. Simply Genius.

    A+++

  • This movie should have won BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY!! And possibly best picture!

It was so well done and fucking nail biting scenes, especially the long no cut away scenes... PURE AMAZING!

  • @staphinfection

It did win best cinematography ;)

  • @GarebearShields This film didn't win the Oscar for best cinematography. It went to Pan's Labrynth.

  • @staphinfection Ughh I know! Why can't these filmmakers get off their lazy asses and setup real shots like these..soo sick of special FX driven movies with shit stories pushing characters nobody cares about and epileptic cutaways designed for nano second attention span afflicted crack babies ...barf, gimme a movie shot in one room with one light, one actor and an engaging story any day over a bloated $100 million visual diarrhea fest...

  • @at32degrees you should then go check The Man From Earth

  • Incredible movie. Anyone who didn't appreciate what they did as far as cinematography should eat a dick

  • Possibly the best film ever ... loved it!

  • ok see u soon!

    lets hookup! IZ

  • I hear that you're a cunt. We can't both be right...

  • Best movie ever made

  • Highly underrated and bloody brilliant: 5 out of 5 stars.

  • this film is amazing

  • very cowards and not very heroes at all but good movie

  • See how you'd take on those situations, You'd die and not accomplish anything, a hero-death though

  • Such an amazing movie. Clive Owen owns!

  • that's cool!

  • the sad thing is that this making of completely avoids talking about the half a year of visual effects for all the 'one take' shots. Oh well, I guess it shows they did a good job considering everyone believed it was one shot for all those.

hint: they weren't all one take.

  • Comment removed

  • this movie is amazing, the way they shot is absoloutely brilliant, one of my favourite films ever.

  • This film got screwed at the Oscars.

  • This was a true masterpiece of a film.

I didn't expect much, but now I find this to be one of the very very best films I've seen of the past 20 years, easily.

  • not best picture, but best director, yeah!(but in 2006 there was scorsese with the departed, and then, he won and he was the best director of this year)anyway alfonso made two complicated long takes, and all the movie is made with great talent, he didn't take the nomination for best director, but whe knows what holliwood is, kubrick never won an oscar for best film, or best director, and this is absurd, but this is holliwood....

  • YOu are correct. People shouldn't get to hung up on who won aor didn't win the Oscars.

"Blade Runner" didn't win anything and bombed in the box office, but it's one of the greatest movies ever made.

  • couldn't agree more

  • The scenes where Theo, the mother and the baby walk out of building and the fighting stops and also where Theo is trying to get through the battle are some of the best I've scene in any film.

  • I haven't watched this movie..but clearly it didn't deserve to be shunned by moviegoers and awarding institutions considering how excellent its camerawork and acting here is...It's feel real!!!..even only featuring in a 'making of'...where can I watch it on the internet?..it's not on youtube...

  • what was the point of that car scene anyway - why would a bunch of people run down a hill and attack a car? it looked like something out of 28 days later.

  • Well, initially when watching it, you're supposed to think that it is perhaps a bunch of anarchists or one of the factions. Later in the movie, you realize that Luke orchestrated the whole attack.

  • this movie is powerful beyond contemplation, its the truth in the next few years... people do not understand how accurate and well done this was created...

  • Finally they were able to upload the way they shoot that scene 360'..bloody amazing!!!

    Chivo lubezki is a master!!!

  • THIS MOVIE - DEFINITELY ASS KICKER

  • All who made this movie...YOU KICK ASSSSS

  • Thanks to those men who did such excellent camera work, it makes Bourne Supremacy's shaky and choppy craps look like fucking amateur.

  • its very nice thx

  • like Jasper i was high while i was watching this movie, and to my mind it was one of the best movies of all times, it would had that 3 oscars. btw i rated 10 at imdb. my other 10 titles were, LOTR and Saving Private Ryan and those films kind of reminded me of this film, u know ring=baby, and the pretty disturbing but also lifelike shoot effects and sounds from ryan. 10/10

  • its an AMAZING movie..visually wonderful..the story is secondary to the images being shown

  • did you notice, that throughout the movie, clive owen has a cup of coffee? I just noticed that!

  • great movie and of the best ive ever seeb

  • very interesting and well done film

  • fuck no

  • I agree with skymonster and you must be one of those Jason Statham fans. Brainless action.

  • Mmmhmmm, and the general public "definately agrees" with your views. 92% from rotten tomatoes, "Works on every level: as a thriller, a cautionary tale, and a human drama." I know your going to come back at me with some "feeding into the masses" garbage too but save it. You just don't have a good taste in movies and that's that. (and i'm sure 92% of this comment board agrees with me :D)

  • Worst movie?! Someone with your taste doesn't deserve a computer to blabber your stupidity on let alone life!

  • ol el fo2ak : "TAB WALLAHI MANA SAYEB OMAK "!

  • this movie has some of the best filmwork in history i belive, only complaint is i believe it should have been a 3 part thing.

  • People who say this movie is shit are probably the type of people who enjoy non-sensical violence, instead of real themes with an interesting storyline, which is believeable in my opinion. I hope you people who say this movie "sucks" have not yet reached your mature age where you can actually watch a movie and think about moer than just its "action".

  • I agree, this was a great movie, I loved how they did all the long takes, I liked how the story had a very deep realistic feel to it. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars

  • My parents hated this movie and thought it was 'hammy' but they have pretty good taste in films. I won't ever understand how they didn't find at least some merit in the film but I'm not going to go and insult them for it.

  • sorry, what does 'Hammy' mean?

  • Excellent FX, really hard images, this movie is kind of boring until the car scene, after that part you can not do anything but watching it until the end

  • The car scene was probably one of the best scenes i've seen in a while.

  • thank u very much for the precious video :)

  • Thanks for posting that video. That was a pleasure finally to find out how they've done those takes. Awesome. Lubezky should've won an oscar.

  • haha, i love how the car scene was filmed.

  • well thanks alot for telling us all what our opinion should be antichrist, what shall we all do with the rest of our lives we await your command oh dimwitted one

  • I didn't like the end.....i was expecting more! ;(

  • Totally agree, although the entire movie was pretty "real life" down to earth so you can't expect the ending to be hollywood-ised. Can't expect it but you can want it like we did.

  • luv it! Fantastic stuff.

  • PAN'S LABYRINTH and CHILDREN OF MEN was best movies in 2006. It rank up there as my favorite movies of all time list. These are an intelligent movies that makes you think.

  • there are some mistakes in this film but it's director is a human, isn't it. good film.

  • The director's a human???????????? Dammit all I thought he was a wookie.

  • & what these mistakes are supposed to be ?

i would much like to hear about it more specifically .

  • good film

  • This movie is so good.

  • that movie is magic. simply incredible.

  • One of the best films i've ever seen

  • omg are you on the same earth as i am this film is the best film and story ever

  • Children of Men was amazing! Maybe you should stick to low-brow films like Daddy Day Camp.

  • Agreed!

  • Start her with a mediocre acting class and she can work up from there.

  • this is my favorite film right now , its just so amazing to watch the long action sequences , and the future as in science fiction in that so fucking realistic way to formulate it.

    just genius .

and please don't reply on me.

  • ok i won't reply

  • This movie sets higher standards for film makers everywhere.

  • Really great film. Almost gave me the "Blade Runner" feeling at the end, like its going to be a cult classic. But i also felt i wanted it to be a bit longer. The end is good but i wanted little more. Awesome movie though.

  • I agree with the Blade runner feeling. Solid all around, but maybe not exactly blade runner :)

  • very true. I guess what i mean is that this will be to youngsters what blade runner is for the older generation. maybe ;)
