  • Guys, Im a Commodore fan but we really need to stop being assholes on every

ZX spectrum/Amstrad CPC/ Atari ST video saying that our machines are better

    (like the disgusting Nintendo fanbase),

I really find the graphics of the Amstrad amazing, giving the MASTERSYSTEM

a run for its money ! and its high resolution modes can give a great atmosphere

in games like Switchblade which trumps the C64 version, Coming from a C64/Amiga fanatic !

  • i'm glad the makers bothered to include music on the amstrad/spectrum versions, a very respectable rendition it is too,..better than no tune at all anyway

  • C64 had the best graphic and sprite animations but gameplay wise it was equal, plus (dont know if the amstrad version had it) BEST cheat in the game Hold "S"+"E" to drop yer pants! lol

  • game seems to play fairly similar to way of the exploding fist. thas was one of the best martial arts games i ever played back in the day!!!!

  • Afro-Sideburn-Mustache Karate!

  • Did this game have anything to do with "The way of the exploding fist"?

  • Awesome music remix, fits right with the original

  • I hate that you have crap like "Headshot LOL" over an otherwise worthy tribute to a great game.

  • Thats Amiga/ST graphics at the start of the video (the silhouetted fighters).

  • Only one gripe. Apart from the sun, theres no background animations. Too me that was a major part of ik+.

  • This game was made for the C64. End of discussion.

  • And the ironic thing is; the CPC is just as good.

  • The CPC was certainly a more capable machine than was ever really shown, but it fell down when it came to hardware scrolling and sprites unfortunately.

  • Full screen hardware scrolling was a pain, but there are a few games that broke the 50fps barrier i.e. Warhawk, Mission Genocide, Mr Heli and Fres Attack. There were lots of little tricks you could do to fool the CPU and hardware scrolling. Star Sabre proves that 25fps is perfectly acceptable though, and even people from the C64 scene give it approval.

  • Yeah Only C64.....the best 8 bit machine :)

  • Because no Amstrad 6128Plus version were made...

  • "Headshot"... 8-)))) ahaha nicely said

  • Great job !!! Keep uploading such reviews for Amstrad ...

  • I like the intro music, who did it?

  • OK it's not as rounded grahically as the Commodore 64 version : in the background tehres no see 1) seagulls 2) spider in tree 3) small waves on the ocean

    Movements are not as fluid.

    The bouncing balls looks strange.

Wheres the sound effects, theres only music ?

  • And despite everything you say... I still think it plays better. And I refuse to agree about it being less fluid. Sound effects are better on the C64, and there are sound effects on the CPC version. Plus the bonus ball rounds can actually be completed on the CPC version, they are too difficult on the C64. I recently downloaded IK+ from the Wii download site and can confirm the C64 version is much harder.

  • Ok here is my "review" compared to the c64 version 1) Background: dont have as many details as the c64 version. 2) Sound and music.: way inferior 3) Animations: looks the same 4) Gameplay: i dont know, but looks the same. Overall: almost as good, but not quite there..

  • To be honest I can understand the mixed reviews regardless of which version was the best. Collision seemed off much of the time and adding an extra fighter to the mix didn't elavate it much beyond Way of the Exploding Fist.

  • i loved this game - the bonus round used to go nuts on the later levels right enough. got to black belt a few times but you definitely had to earn it. might just dig the old 6128 out the loft for one more go....

  • Never heard of this game. We had Target Renegade & YieArKungFu.

Is that pixel supposed to be his side burns or an eye?

  • hey there mate, excellent video.

the bonus level looks like he is been attacked by giant smarties lol.

  • This is gonna sound petty, but i was watching the background on this and never once did i see any background animation except for the sun reflecting in the water. No worms, spiders, birds, fish or periscope, that aside looked good.

  • Tell me about it, System 3 always gave very little development time to the CPC games they produced and in most cases were cut down versions. Myth had the last level missing and Last Ninja was in black and white.

  • Yo! Atari ST version was the best for me :-)

  • nice!

  • Nice one dude, loved the comments when you got hit made my day. Cheers for sharing. Used to have this for the Amstrad too many moons ago. Classic

  • Target Renegade was like that, all the way to the end, with no offical ending and back to the car park level all over again, but harder. Still, I used to love raking in those high scores!

  • Ah the memories !

I once achieved the Black Belt but nothing special happens. You just go on fighting until you're screwed.

I must congratulate you for completing the bonus stage. I remember not completing it even once. I used to play with a crappy joystick though.

  • i wasnt referring to the GFX.... was referring to the easter egg type of extras that the c64 version had and cpc didnt get...

even though without them the cpc version still rocks...... !!!

  • awsome review, wonderful presentation :)

why dont you use the high back kicks get good points and you dont have to do back flips to get in position when the opponent isnt facing you...

pity cpc version of IK+ didnt have the extra stuff c64 had....

its fast as though and has awesome moves....

the bonus stage is rather slow and annoying at times they could have done better with a bonus stage....

  • Graphics dont always make a good game, in most cases simple ideas do. The C64 in most peoples minds is the best version, better than the glitzier and more powerful amiga version... but for me i preffered the cpc version and the fact you could use the keyboard. Anyway, all versions i've played over the years all have thier strengths .e.t.c even the speccy version played a good game.

  • Great stuff mate.
