Darkthrone is actually like a hot chick. It begins good just good with the birth, but then it grows up and it changes completely in a positive way. but at the end, it changed for the second time but in a negative way: it has became too old too cold, and it ends up ugly and the hotness is gone... it's a shame what Darkthrone has become, but I totally love them for their black metal albums! \m/

darkthrone is possibly the only true norwegian black metal that i ike in every way, from their death metal approach soulside journey era, going thorugh transilvanian hunger and 90's true cult black metal to the cult is alive album which btw is a great insane piece of art, and their recent kinda punkish old school heavy metal style! If they can't get rid of Peaceville, I was wondering can Mercyful Fate get rid of their contract? They had atleast four more albums after 9, and that was in 1999. Sure the band's been disbanded for over 12 years, but they might come back, even if Petersen doesn't feel like it. :( Anyway, he had a triple bypass, so what, he owes his fans at least a single gig... somewhere in time and space. darkthrone's sound is real black metal cos is closer to venom, hellhammer and early bathory than the "true norwegian black metal". (both styles are fuckin' great)

@PolishKurwaMetal So this is recent? If so then glad to know Darkthrone still sticks to their DIY aspect and own type of sound. It shows that they can move on from one era and into a more recent one.
Though I'm not a huge fan of their crustpunk stuff, I have so much respect for Darkthrone for just doing whatever they fuck they want to, doing it well, and not selling out.
I'm really liking their new direction. Been listening to them since the 80s. I love how they change their sound up so much. Especially if you include all the offshoot bands like Isengard and Storm. Everything Fenriz and Noncturno do is great stuff.

@Metalheadyup Well you guessed wrong lol I got a rockabilia magazine in the mail with my Arsis t-shirt. flipped through the whole thing and kept seeing darkthrone merch and was like cool logo and theyre black metal so i checked them out. I love atmospheric blackmetal type stuff like Leviathan n shit, but this band just isnt for me. im glad some people enjoy it though, i mean fuck its fucking metal, anything but mainstream.
This is METAL and it's RAW, HEAVY and MEAN. Who cares about the style - black, oldschool death, metalpunk ? Dark Throne doesn't care and they just play the metal they want to play and I listen to it cause it sounds great whatever this might be called. Aggressive post funk ? Anarcho doom speed metal ? Occult hate pop ? It slays ! That's all that matters !
I love this song for the" Fuck You" aspect of it. They are mocking the whole commercialization of the Black Metal scene. It really is quite brilliant considering I've watched one of my favorite genres of music become wrapped up in a shiny black package and sold out to the highest bidder.
@666BlutGott It happens to every genre and you can always tell who the posers are because they follow the trends. The real artists just quietly carry on making the music they want to make.
Darkthrone is my favorite black metal band for songs like this. Hell, I love all their goddamned music, from their death metal to their black metal to their "black heavy metal," "blackened crust," or whatever you want to call their current direction. I can't think of a single Darkthrone riff I don't like.

If they can't get rid of Peaceville, I was wondering can Mercyful Fate get rid of their contract? They had atleast four more albums after 9, and that was in 1999. Sure the band's been disbanded for over 12 years, but they might come back, even if Petersen doesn't feel like it. :( Anyway, he had a triple bypass, so what, he owes his fans at least a single gig... somewhere in time and space. Dammit fuck em all, fuck Gylve, he don't know what it's like to love a band... :D

darkthrone's sound is real black metal cos is closer to venom, hellhammer and early bathory than the "true norwegian black metal". (both styles are fuckin' great)

I'm really liking their new direction. Been listening to them since the 80s. I love how they change their sound up so much. Especially if you include all the offshoot bands like Isengard and Storm. Everything Fenriz and Noncturno do is great stuff.

I like crust/ sludge and have a big appreciation for early 90s black metal too, appreciate new era Darkthrone for what it is, heavy simplistic and unprocessed rock with a sense of humour ;)

@ausaman15 @ausaman15 well, enslaved are sorta polished sounding and they're still black metal, but what i was really trying to say was that black metal itself is an underground genre. Mayhem are big but they're still pretty underground, but Dimmu Borgir got a lot closer to the mainstream when they left behind a lot of the black metal aspects and picked up more symphonic metal elements.

@Metalheadyup Well you guessed wrong lol I got a rockabilia magazine in the mail with my Arsis t-shirt. flipped through the whole thing and kept seeing darkthrone merch and was like cool logo and theyre black metal so i checked them out. I love atmospheric blackmetal type stuff like Leviathan n shit, but this band just isnt for me. im glad some people enjoy it though, i mean fuck its fucking metal, anything but mainstream.

This is METAL and it's RAW, HEAVY and MEAN. Who cares about the style - black, oldschool death, metalpunk ? Dark Throne doesn't care and they just play the metal they want to play and I listen to it cause it sounds great whatever this might be called. Aggressive post funk ? Anarcho doom speed metal ? Occult hate pop ? It slays ! That's all that matters !

I love this song for the" Fuck You" aspect of it. They are mocking the whole commercialization of the Black Metal scene. It really is quite brilliant considering I've watched one of my favorite genres of music become wrapped up in a shiny black package and sold out to the highest bidder.

Darkthrone is my favorite black metal band for songs like this. Hell, I love all their goddamned music, from their death metal to their black metal to their "black heavy metal," "blackened crust," or whatever you want to call their current direction. I can't think of a single Darkthrone riff I don't like.
