I love this video and will be featuring it in an upcoming "Type 1 Tuesday" on D-Mom Blog. My daughter was diagnosed at three, just a few months shy of turning four.
Wow Rachel - Wow - kind of takes me back to memories that are stored way in the back on my noggin' when I was diagnosed at 6!!! Glad a blood meter didn't exist in my days. I'm, still not sure how long I went undiagnosed - parents can't recall due to their age now - but I always remember having to yank my shorts up as I was losing weight (if only I could do the same thing now LOL - but due to healthy way of losing).
Nice job Rachel. I will never forget the thirst and weakness before I was told I had diabetes. That was in 1968. Not long after getting my first shot they made me give myself I felt the thirst go away and was much less depressed over having to take shots
@shoobiedoobiedoowah Thanks! Yeah after a while shots weren't too bad but i still didn't like them, i was out of control for a long time until I switched over to a pump when I was 14 and been mostly in control since
@humaBLOG I started the pump 10 years ago and that has made life better. Control is never perfect and I live a varried life that is not boring but makes control a challange. BG was 171 a little while ago. Bolus and check, I hated to check but now I dont even think and just check. Best thing since they discovered insulin was the meter.
This video lets me know i'm not alone <3
