@MRAK47ification : Well you're seeing things from a general point of view. This is what most of the people know about WWII: USA, UK and Russia won the war. There are in facts so many things and countries that took part to the victory of those main countries that when you start to know more about WWII you can't just say that only those countries won the war.
Then nobody surrendered without fighting in Europe... just try to imagine that at the time the Blitzkrieg strategy was something new.

@MRAK47ification : Sure, when you read books about it you might think "uh how could the European countries got defeated so fast by Germany ?". It's rather easy, they didn't know, or didn't want to know how powerful the Wehrmacht was. Add to this that our European countries had already suffered a lot from WWI, a lot of fathers and sons never came back from the trenches or were hardly wounded, so none of the sons of soldiers wanted to live the same thing 20 years after.

@MRAK47ification : After the Funny war/Sitzkrieg/Drôle de guerre, the Allies weren't much more motivated. They had attacked a little, entered Germany but as Polan fall way before their plans, they stopped their offensive where they were and entrenched themselves. Then they started waiting for the Germans, and finaly got owned because they were really underestimating the abilities of the new Panzer Divisions to cross the Ardennes and surround their troops so fast.

@MRAK47ification : I could go on for a while but their are several, serious reasons why Europe was invaded so fast. Germany never fought more than two countries at a time, and most of those countries weren't prepared as much as the Wehrmacht was, because Hitler had planned everything since 1933. Etc, etc...

I read books, dude, you know with pages and stuff, not Wikipedia, and a soldier's son said his father only told him about the D-Day ONCE in his life, and even decades after it was still a fucking pain for him so why can't you just THINK a little, try to imagine how it was and why Europe after centuries of war didn't want to go for another one again ?

@MRAK47ification : Let's not forget the huge casualties they took to win... some people like you often forget how much it costed to the USSR and the Red Army to win each battle. Millions and millions of men died or were captured.
Never heard of any Commandos in the Pacific, the American won their war almost on their own, with the USMC that surely took high casualties due to the Japanese war doctrine: never surrender and fight 'til the end.

They kept their army alive by first retreating from the frontlines in 1940 without even telling their Allies, which is understable looking at the situation. Then around 80,000 French soldiers sacrificed themselves to cover the Dunkirk escape. The French have been underestimated for a too long time now. They fought with the Allies on the front and from inside from 1940 to 1945 so STFU and stop insulting me and those who fought this war.

Thankyou so much, I'm in the Army ROTC and preparing to join the US Army as an officer. Regardless of your view of US policies, we are in a global war. IF we lose, we're going to be in some serious crap. The time for discussion of whether we should be at war or not is over, now it's time to choose sides.
