Yes Mr.Robinson uses an Olive and pure gut strings for his D and A strings. He uses a steel goldbrokat for his E. His sound truly carries Mr.Heifetz's elegance and masculine sound
I was asked in a private message by a YouTube user what instrument I used in this recording and what kind of strings I use. To answer the first part of the question, my violin was made by Phillip Injeian of Pittsburgh, PA. It was made in 2004 modeled after Paganini's 'Canon' Guarnerius del Gesu violin. It is a tremendous instrument which I enjoy playing on so much! I use strings by Pirastro Oliv (G), plain gut D&A by Gamut Strings, and a steel Goldbrokat E-string.
Thank you Mattias :) I don't usually put up sound recordings for YouTube but will occasionally. I will try to make a video of this and maybe some other Gershwin works in the spring/summer time.
thanks !
