    LOVED THEM BOTH

    OH FANTASTIC MEMORIES

  • Love. !!!!!

  • Johnny was uniquely ...NYC and Doo Wop

  • Hey Marty, I agree with all that you said about him. I grew up in Queens and went to Bryant High in Astoria, class of 1957. Went to many of the great Alan Freed Shows at the Brooklyn Paramount and a devoted fan of the doo wop era, still today.... I was fortunate to see Johnny live in a performance at Cohasset Music Circus in Massachusetts many years ago. A sad day when he passed.

  • Beautiful, never again well music be pruduced again. This is ware rock began and is still the best.

  • R.I.P Johnny and Freddy

  • Rest in peace, Johnny Maestro. You were uniquelly wonderful.

  • Who is the gorgeous woman at about the 1:24 mark?

  • Frank Sinatra called Tony Bennett "the voice", I guess Old Blue Eyes never heard Johny Maestro.

  • I'm in love with the girl in the audience at 0:44 to 0:46. I desperately want to sing this song to her on a date. FoundersInk@live.com

LUCKY, I call myself for living in this time of this GREAT Music

  • I am genuine baby boomer with a love of romance and Johnny Maestro surely enhanced romance in all of us. Maybe, he is leading the angelic choirs in heaven.

  • anyone know when this video was made?

  • @bailey0152 This was recorded in May 1999 for the PBS concert "Doo Wop 50" at Pittsburgh's Benedum Center. Johnny was sixty years old then. The DVD of the concert is available at online music retailers, such as amazon.

  • i consider myself fortunate to have grown up in the 50's, lived near NYC, and have been a part of the great doo-wop era. Johnny was one of the very best. RIP.

  • This Man had the most amazing voice --- one of a kind for sure!

I was also 12 or 13 when I first heard "The Brooklyn Bridge".

  • I was always going to go on that rock in roll/ doo wop cruise with Johnny and others out of N.Y., but never made it. Always next year I thought. Just shows you that you need to make up your mind and go for it before it is too late. God rest his soul. At least I had the pleasure of growing up with him and learning (re-learning) to appreciate how great this music (and Johnny especially) was/is to the world.

A 60- something- year- old fan

  • Hi! My name is John "Marty" Trautman, co-founder & member of a New York City doo-wop group known as "The Chevrons". Johnny & I were schoolmates at C.E. Hughes H.S. on 18th Street in Manhattan. Johnny graduated in '56 & I in '57. Many times I would walk into the bathroom to hear Johnny & a few guys doo-woppin'. Those were the days! In my opinion, Johnny was the GREATEST LEAD SINGER in the doo-wop era! The Lord took him home, but we still have the pleasure of listening to his golden voice. AMEN

  • Ive seen him about about 10 or 12 times in my life, he sang 16 to my daughter on her 16th birthday in new jersey in a school yard where went to see him with shirley alston reeves from the shirelles i asked him on his break when they came back he said to kelly simon happy birthday hell be forever in my heart rest in peace johhny

  • My only reget is that I never met Johnny, he was 12 yrs older than me & very influential in my own Music career, listening to him sing & trying to copy him I see how no one could because he was in a league of his own, I mention him every night I'm on stage & still listen to him every day...Tears roll down my face as I write this & I thank him for everything he's done & if it wasn't for Johnny I may have never became an entertainer.Though I never met you in my heart I call you friend... RIP
