hey Strawberry! I had quite a few that I loved singing the BGs on, but those were my definitely my favorites. We'd listen to the backgrounds, harmonies and try to copy them, or put our own twist. Some other Motown songs I loved doing that on:
I'm Ready For Love
Bernadette
The Hunter Gets Captured By the Game
My Baby Loves Me
The Happening
That's the Way Love Is
mind you, I'm not that old- we were doing this back in the early 90's...LOL
when i was a kid, me and my sister would record background vocals over old Motown tracks. I was about 13. My two favorties to sing BGs on were "I'm Livin' in Shame" and "Standing in the Shadows of Love". This reminded me of those days.
This is one of my fav recordings!! Unfortunately, my computer crashed and I no longer have an MP3 of it so IT WILL BE RERECORDED WITH SUPERB BACKING VOCALS AND MORE ARRANGMENTS!!
The Andantes ROCK! Marlen Barrows, Louvain Demps, and the other one. I'm sure you know that they added backing vocals to most of the Four Tops hits, as well as backing Diana on most of the '68-'69 Supremes hits. Another great trio of backing blend is Ashford & Simpson with Josie Armstead (heard on Diana's first two solo albums with A&S).
Yep! I like to do what The Andantes did with my flexible voice! I can sing bass - falsetto and it gives me the advantage to create harmonies for motown classics.
Wow - you really have put the finishing touch on this superb hit single for the Prince & Queen of Motown! Such a great sense of harmony...do you sing professionally?
stawberry have you heard the supremes singing a Smokey song called oowee baby? you should check it out one day cause the harmonies on that one are great and you might like to try your voice on it. have a good weekend.
Just want to say what a F-I-NE job you have done here.DiannaRoss such a Beauty!

The backing you added to this is actually REALLY REALLY GOOD!!!
Very reminiscent of something The Andantes would do. You should get 'em to listen to it LOL.
