@izlamiztruth 3alaykum al salam. I'm a sister, not a brother :-) It’s Ali al Akbar. But it has nothing to do with the saying Allahu Akbar (like that meaning). That was just his name. It was Akbar (as in oldest).

@izlamiztruth About your second question about our beliefs, no, Shi3a Muslims don't believe that. This is just a rumor that sunni people spread to make it look like Shi3a are kuffar so people could hate us. It’s not true. We’re Muslims and we believe that Nabee Muhammad (saww) is Allah’s messenger just like any Muslim. We also believe that Imam Ali (as) who is the Prophet's cousin and son in law, was Nabee Muhammad’s (saww) successor (after his death).

@izlamiztruth For your third question, some Shi3a Muslims hit themselves in 3ashoora because of the pain that they feel for Ahlel Beit (as). Ahlel Beit was murdered. In the battle of Karbala, Imam al Hussein and his family (as jami3an) were starved, and forbidden from a drink of water. These were the Prophet’s (as) flesh and blood and they were treated like this. They were tortured, and had their tents burned down.

@izlamiztruth Imam al Hussein’s (as) brother Abalfadhlel Abbass (as) had his hands cut off because he tried to bring the thirsty children water. Imam al Hussein (as) infant son had an arrow shot into his neck because they requested water for him.

@izlamiztruth Imam al Hussein (as) was beheaded on the ground of Karbala for fighting for the truth. He had his head put on a stick as the enemies marched the women out of Karbala. When his daughter Roukaya asked for him, they gave her his head, and from her shock and grief she hugged him and died. These are just a tiny handful of stories of what happened in 3ashoora.
