  • @IBMSystemZ -is this 52 BIPS total or 52 BIPS per core ?

    If it's per core, you're short-selling yourselves.

  • Hope it runs Minecraft... :)

  • I wonder if it can run pong...?

  • i have access to an imb mainframe and it cant do anything usefull for gamer...very boring machine and an horrible operating system

  • @dasbasti1990 - Why don't you install Linux on it.. Noone will notice if you run the operating system in an emulator. ;)

  • Holy shit 96 core 5.2 ghz?!?!?! nothing can top that. Hands down fastest processor in the world. And I thought the Intel i7 6 core 980x extreme edition was fast! lol

  • That's not a computer. THIS is a COMPUTER! The zEnterprise 196 rocks!

  • You would need atleast 100 gtx 580's or 6970's before there would be any cpu bottleneck

  • Wonder if it runs smooth Crysis! ;'D

  • @Shezmen88 it cant run it

  • for you guys to compare..a i7 990x does 159,000 MIPS at 3.46 GHz

MIPS=instructions per second, so technically, if this processor supported x86 and 64bit(patented by intel and amd) then it could run crysis maxxed out with some insane frames in software mode(without the use of a super awesome graphics card, just rendered with software)

  • Crysis could run.. i think, if there is a version for linux... don´t compare it with intel. This is technique... intel is...simply bad.

The z196 is a data cruncher, perfect for move high mounts of data

  • Imagine that in turbo modus, 80 cores supporting 16 lol... 20 gigahertz processor?

  • only 50,000,000,000 instructions per second?

the Intel I7 i980EE cpu has 147,000,000,000 ips

    with just 1 cpu

  • @spikkel70

Actually the Intel i7 has 153.000.000 ips (Giga)

while this monster here has 50.000.000.000 ips (Tera)

  • @Loosertroete Giga/tera its not FLOPS.Google it most threads are talking about 50000 MIPS for the ibm, which is 50 BIPS as said in this video

The Intel I7 is around 150000 MIPS. My soundcard is about a 1000 MIPS while the newest sblaster is 10000. The P4 or the Cell 3ghz is 10000 MIPS. Xbox360 cpu has 19000. These figures are constant.

Maby they mean 50000 bips then 1 cpu has about 500000 mips which is more then 3x faster then the fastest intel. Then their claim of the fastest cpu would be true

  • @Loosertroete IPS: KIBS, MIPS, BIPS (MIPS = million instructions p/s)

FLOPS: KFLOP, MFLOP, GFLOP, TFLOP, PFLOPS (kilo, mega, giga, tera, peta)

cpu's are in the glop range now, Supercomputers are in the tera range while a few are in the peta range

  • @Loosertroete - sorry for the late answer. Unless I've misunderstood something, 1 IPS = one instruction per second. 1 MIPS = one million instructions per second. 1 BIPS = one billion instructions per second. 1 BIPS = 1.000.000.000 instructions per second. which means it's not tera. 1 TIPS would be one trillion instructions per second.

I belive the measure is for a single core only, and would need to be multiplied by 96 for a total, but I might be wrong. I do think there's an error somewhere.

  • crysis 2 ... thats all i gotta say .. maybe put some nvidia tesla 2050's in there

  • lmao it's got 96 cores@5.1ghz... the main question is.. can it run Chrysis!?

  • Flash should run fine on this thing

  • @matelotgeek but, just :D

  • @matelotgeek - Hmm, not so sure about that; Flash is known to 'hog' the CPU. -Imagine all 96 cores 'frozen'; Flash would probably be the only app able to do that. ;)

  • Chuck Norris sold his old desktop to IBM :D

  • @truhlikfredy and then smacked your face with it ;)

  • i well buy it soon
