To get the full effect of playing Gary Wright's Dream Weaver in vinyl, you have to go down to your parents' fake-wood paneled basement rec room, lay down on the wall-to-wall indoor/outdoor carpeting, turn the sound up so loud that the blasting distorts the speakers on your parents' 1970s floor-model stereo and you can FEEL the famous bass line vibrating thru you... Then you have to close your eyes and sing along just loud enough so you can hear yourself but not so loud that you drown out Gary.
Everybody's comments on my initial search of The Dream Weaver were to the effect that it was the original-they were later mixes,, This is the Original (the newer one says "I have just closed my eyes")...this one begins "I've just closed my eyes", love it , love it, love it!!!
@hoghash78 ok brother good , keep your dreams alive cuz , somtimes they help me thro dark times, actually im quiting h and oxy, its horrible .but hey thats life.
@moodybluesno1 I know man! I just clicked on the first "Dreamweaver" that came up with the most views, and was like "what is this shit?" I can't believe they remastered this and changed the music to "update" it or whatever. THIS is the version I grew up on, the raw 70's sound, not that new polished crap.
Is anyone familiar with Gary Wright's album titled "Footprint"? Some of the songs on Footprint: * Love to survive; * Give me the good earth; *Stand for our rights - this is a brilliant album.
it's not really documented but the wayne's world soundtrack includes a slight remix of dream weaver on it...it's superior in many ways i think...not very often can you say that...
Well this is pointless. You take the LP source, capture the audio from your speakers with your crappy camera mic and upload it to Youtube in low quality.
I'm not trying to be mean, but if this is supposed to show the charm of vinyl, why didn't you capture the audio directly from the amp, and upload it in high quality? This way all we hear is digital compression and fuzziness.
@Superphilipp He can't, you idiot. Gary's audio content is property of The Warner Music Group that is infamous for controlling the permissions of their musicians.
...Classic Sonic Alchemy. What a wonderful tirbute to a bygone era. The stylist, turntable and Vynal are all too familiar to me - Thanks for the walk threw memory lane...
ohhh thank you ever so much for using a vinyl. my soulmate died 1983 at the age of 43. this was played at his memorial service. it still haunts me. but i loved the song long before i met him and it's still one of my favorites. once again, thank you for vinyl.
i luv this song,it reminds me of starry nights as a child in Palmdale CA in 78 and 79,so beautiful and later in life I discovered the song was dedicated 2 my guru Paramanhansa Yogananda, amazing the relativity of everything,OM
Can anyone tell me how to find the whole Dreamweaver album? I loved a lotta songs on there. Like I can't find the Judge! I'd appreciate anyones help? I just keep getting this song like a million diff. times n ways. I want the whole album? Thanx if U can
talk about bring back memories i feel like i should be sitting on top of deanville moutain with a beer and a joint watching for the cops. great memories thanks dissent88
Great song! Yes!ThomasSKA,thats how it was for me without the moped!I also see Tia on STAR SEARCH LOL(wayne's world)seriously tho,a GREAT song i listened to a lot!!
This takes me way back in time....acne, virgin, shy 'n awkward, homework, lousy summerjobs, bell-bottom jeans, too long hair, moped, lousy stereo, fights with sisters, fights with mom...dontcha miss them good old 70s too? NOPE!!!!
Just an P instead of an F, then you'll get me rocking. Still like the song very much though, just not the memories of the seventies, I started LIVING with the PuNK outbreak at the end of the sevnties.
Lying in the park, surrounded by friends, smokin out, n drinkin annie green springs or Boonesfarm. (apple) And talkin bout the viet nam war, and everything else that was sooo important back then. God, how I miss the 70's

@SlimeTron5000 I get that. That still begs why you would upload this in the first place, and with the capitalised "VINYL" in the title, too.
And don't call me names.
