The was just after the end of the USSR. Everyone there, savea few crusty old commie diehards, was very happy about this.

This is a farewell to a system that failed miserably. It gave unchecked power to individual dictators like Lenin, Stalin, Khruschev, and Brezhnev. It brutally executed more than 20 million Soviet people. Worst of all, it deprived the surviving majority of freedom, dignity, and a decent living standard.

This video was made just after its end, as an ironic elegy.

TITO (1892-1980) was a great leader. Very smart, wise man who made many good decions. First, he won over Hitler, later over Stalin.

How many other leaders of communistic world defied Stalin and died of natural death? Only one, Tito did.

A free multiparty Soviet Union. 73% of people voted to keep it together in a democratic form, but Yeltsin and other regional leaders tore the country apart anyway to get more power themselves. Now instead of 1 nation that could've been experimenting with democracy and open markets, we've got balkanized squabbling countries which are rapidly sliding back into dictatorship.

For a very long time, ethnic differences in the Soviet Union have been discouraged and dropped to a mere minimum because of mixed intermarriages and a common language (with other vernacular languages allowed to be published in the country). If the Soviet Union survived with the Party voted out of office, which I believe it would happen if it wasn't for Yeltsin and 14 others who encouraged racism and ethnic violence.

The USSR showed great potential in being a democracy in the late 80s onwards... It was said that it was a parody, but if it was, then I'm just missing the point. The lyrics are the original ones, and they show peasants and workers, which was what the Soviet Union was about after all... they show the achievements in space, and even Misha, the mascot of the 1980 Olympics...

Rather than a parody, I think it's just a different way to sing it.
