It is French for "Sword"...it has no thing to do with bruising. plus it is written épée.

@Mystery13Cat Let me reword that, i said Epee = bruises, because everyone I know including myself who Epee fence, end up with some manner of bruising. I am no amateur and was being slightly sarcastic since your original reply to my original response was rude and uncalled for. I am done.

I regret the fact that you misinterpreted my words as rude when i meant no thing more that instruction. I do reckon i am quite ignorant when it comes to fencing and so i bow to your superior knowledge on this area, now i believe you were to rude one hence i ask only that you reckon that.

to disarm just make a "froissé" "gliss" your sword in the first 1/3 of the sword and continue to the end, it will work!!!then attack at the end of the movement

Are you able to disarm in fencing class? I'm taking beginner's classes.

It's possible to disarm someone, but if that happens it's usually because of a mistake on the 'victim's' part. When you take someone's blade forcefully you might knock the weapon out of the opponent's hand. Usually you won't be trying to, though.
