The Fat old guy you mention, is the curator of Meltdown. He may not have sang all that well, but he is without a doubt one hell of a musician. His constant chewing is a by product of the medication hes on. Great human being.
It´s wonder mostly people around the world, but it´s a penny that in the countries where in the oldies, just in the begining of these famous bands,we poor guys in
south america where many has been dying by iron hands from military stupids
in our moments of peaces we listen in the vinyls these olds songs for rest our
Yeah the "old Guy" seems pretty relaxed (not intimidated by Gilmour) - no one like Wyatt! (Seems like he's taking on the mantle of The Godfather of Rock 'n Roll.)
It's not about voice or vocal skills. It's all about music. I am sure that Gilmour is not the best guitarist, Waters is not the best singer, same with Wright and Mason. Separately they were good or very good. Suddenly they came together and gave us the new music order. Changed everything. One of those, without which music wouldnt be the same. Some people had done just much more than only wrote a good song. Some people were genious.
Not only is this old guy chewing gum..but he is reading the lyrics from sheet music? what is that all about...i would think to be playing or singing this classic and yet with David himself you would know it by heart? C'mon someone help me understand this?
To those who think the guitar sounds bad, it doesnt. He's just trying to put something new into the song. Maybe it sounds bad for those who are so used to the pre-recorded version that they just cant except anything different.
The song was played as it always was with the same great talent. The only diiference was the guitar. A Gretsh is normally known for its sustain but compared to his strat there is a noticeable difference. He still cooked !
You think this is shit? Really? Do you even like Pink Floyd? Man, this is just a different version, obviously it HAS TO BE DIFFERENT from the original. And because this style of the song is more acoustic, I think, the guitar he uses here just fits perfect. Come on, it's DAVID GILMOUR!
this guitar isn't very good. Sounds crappy and you can't do bendings or shit like that. Gilmour wanted to do some, but he was unable to do that because of guitar. Better he were played this with strat or les paul.
A good performance but I still think that the Pulse version is the best. Weird guitar here (where is his strat?). For every other guitarist it would sound perfect.. but as this is Gilmour.. This is only really good. Something is missing here - in the last solo. On Pulse you want solo to continue.. You fly with it, feel every bended note. This solo just ends, you don't even know when.
His name is Robert Wyatt and he is a beautiful and powerful songwriter. There is no need for omg. There are lots of people out there I don't know, so maybe one day you can return the complement. :)
this is a bit like the 1 where he got bob geldof singing the 1st part thats a good version he has the same group in that vid aswell think it was the david gilmour live dvd its on youtube somewhere lol
What's ironic is Robert Wyatt might just be the single greatest musician in the 21st century, but his art was overshadowed by much more conventional bands that sold millions ... like Pink Floyd. I'm not saying Floyd isn't one of the best, but that guy doing backup vocals is the Michelangelo of music.
try to listen to more simple music at the beggining and then move on to music of more quality , at the end of that road youll find pink floyd and "that fat guy"
Really nice performance and I like Mr. Wyatt singing the doctor part. I also love the sound of the guitar Gilmour used in this concert. It is very clear and precise. Is this a matter of tuning, or the particular guitar model? I don't know anything about guitars, but I am curious.
