  • The titanic movie of its age. Every scene is superb... awesome... and i hate twilight.

  • Watching this "Trailer" makes me happy we developed computers

  • the greatest film in all history!!!

  • GWTW is amazing ive seen thee movie over 100 times and im in the middle of the book. Pesonaly i think twilight is stupid!!!! It teaches things that god dosnt like for example the forbiden fruit tastes the sweetest!!! STUPID it hate it BUt GWTW Is AMAZXING

  • Hated both of them. Twilight has bad writing, and Gone With the Wind was too pro-slavery, -South, -Klan for me. I was about to make a stupid blanket comment about "what could you expect from a white woman in the South?" but I caught myself.

But yeah, they're in completely different genres.

  • that is just your blindness then ..or probably you cant accept that some books are just better than your favorites.. and please...i didnt say that gwtw is bad [it is an amazing novel] i just said that twilight and gwtw cant be compared...and dude twilight is NOT crappy..

  • yeah twilight and gone with the with can't be compared... they are not the same kind of novel XD

  • I know right.

Who would even compare them in the first place!

  • Hey guys, first of all she was talking about the movie not about the novels- which for example I neevr read. But it is defintely true that Twilight 8the movie) does not stand if compared with Gone with the Wind. That was true art, Twilight is just normal entertainment. If you think that they are good in the same way I'm worried for you guys..

I think that the main thing most movies lack today is good acting. Such a pity. Of course that doesn't apply to ALL movies.

  • Twilight's Robert Patterson & Kristen Steward cannot even kiss the shoes of Clark Gable & Vivien Leigh. At least they chose a British actress to play Scarlett O'Hara instead of a Yankee, they used to say about her choice for the part. I wished thay they rereleased it again in tine for the 150th. Anniversary of the Civil War.

  • well..gwtw is an excellent novel..i agree but twilight is amazing as well ..n as these r of 2 different times i don't think they can be compared..

  • Well, here's a good comparison, despite their different settings in time... one's crap, the other's not! (Twilight's the crappy one, in case you couldn't figure it out) :D

  • I hate twilight

  • my favourite movie!!! and 2 days ago i finally found a copy of this film!!!

movies nowadays like Twilight are crap compared to GWTW....i wish i was born in the time when GWTW was first realeased....i would have been a die hard "fangirl"!! XD

  • Girl I would have been standing right next to you screaming Clarks name!

  • yea.. i noticed that a movie's quality and sense nowadays are gradually being corrupted and the odd thing is that the viewers are still patronizing it..

it's just pure entertainment, no lessons learned or realizations made..

i just finished watching PRIDE and PREJUDICE and I think i'm beginning to like classic movies.. ^^

  • I don't think you can compare twillight with GWTW.

  • dude i'm into a lotta manly macho flicks like fist full of dollars and dirty harry and good bad ugly, but this movie is epic. kudos to Victor Fleming. One of the greatest achievments ever captured on film.

  • whats this movie about?

  • a woman who falls in love woth another woman's husband there is more to it but that is the jist it is an amazing novell

  • you must read the book!!!!

  • um... I'm not much of a reader

  • my favourite movie! A million times better than Star Wars or Titanic!

  • the best film in the history of cinema!!!!!!

  • I love that film, watched hundreds of times!

  • WHAT A MOVIE!!! One of the classics of the movie...There is no time when I see and TEARS!!! - (like now)...

  • omg i want gwtw to come into theaters for the 75th anniversary!!

  • Oh that would be just heavenly.... I would go to see it.

  • 1939--Best Year for Movies Ever!

Gone With the Wind, Wizard of Oz, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Stagecoach, Ninotchka, Wuthering Heights, Young Mr. Lincoln, Gunga Din, Beau Geste, Destry Rides Again, The Women, Dark Victory, Drums Along the Mohawk, The Rules of the Game, Goodbye, Mr. Chips

  • what's corny?

  • I love this film seen it 10000000 times...!!have a listen to my Eurovision 2009 entry for Ireland its on my site...leave a comment if you can....

  • simply classic.

  • i loved gone with the wind it is like one of my favorite books. maybe even my favorite!

  • "In technicolor" - wow, we have come a long way!

  • I´ve looked everywhere for the book and was told it didn´t exist anymore. Thus, where can I find it?

  • Its still there... have you checked a local library?

  • The library doesn´t have one. Is it possible to buy it?

  • It sure as hell does exist! You can get it at any major bookstore. I don't think it's ever gone out of print.

  • Really? That´s good. But are you refering just to US territory? I´m far away in Europe and have once tried to find it in UK bookstores.

  • Oh i see! This is an American classic... i live in America and found it under the classics section. I dont know about europe :/

  • im reading the book and it is exactly like the movie

  • no, it isn´t. :S

  • I'm reading the book and I'm told the movie leaves out a TON.

  • yes it is, lol

  • nop, Scarlet had 3 sons on the book :P

    (sorry I speak spanish!)

  • um actually she had one son, Wade Hampton, and two daughters Ella and Bonnie, she would have had another child but she had fell down the stairs and had a miscarraige.....

  • I WROTE "sorry I speak spanish"

tres hijos... eso es lo que escribi ¬¬

  • are you reading the same book i read? cause the movie leaves out soooo much from the book.

  • moj najbolji film.......

  • God, the music is SO brilliant!!!

  • and my favorite movie casablanca ingrid and humprey was awesome!!!! that times hollywood did movies cuz tite now is BUllshit!

  • im reading the book and im lovin it rhet buttler !!! when finished read the book i will see the movie omg scarlett o hara is a wonderful woman

  • top movie!

  • is there anyone have the movie??

can u send me the file please??

i do love gone wid the wind.. wish i can watch the movie XD

  • This trailer (primative as it is for 2009) gives me fucking GOOSEBUMPS!!! The best movie ever made!

  • i love Gone With the Wing with all my heart. The best novel and romance movie of all time.

  • Even as far back as 1968, they were saying.........."Gee, they dont make films like this anymore!" And that was 40 years ago! As for the movies of today............er.............ya.

  • GWTW was voted the 4th best film of all time by the AFI top 100 rating system..........many (like me) say thats too low.......should be no.1. (Top 5.........Citizen Kane........The Godfather........Casablanca..........GWTW...........Lawrence of Arabia.)

  • I have to agree with you 100%. It should have been number one!

I thought Citizen Kane was sooooooo boring.

I would put Casablance 2nd and then Godfather 3rd.

Citizen Kane would be rated lower than 80.

I've had the pleasure of seeing this movie in the south. Audience reaction was priceless,

both from the southerners and the folks from the north.

If you haven't seen the movie.....do so. IMHO,

it puts most of the modern films to shame.

  • I agree- Citizen Kane was a precious, over-rated film for exclusivists......whereas GWTW is for everybody. I couldnt stand Kane........he repulsed me.....in fact there was not a single likable character in the whole film....and although the movie did break new ground in filming techniques, GWTW is the one for me! I think everyone has a Scarlet O'Hara moment at some time in their lives, and I still cry when i see that famous scene...."As god is my witness.....Ill never be hungary again!!!"

  • I agree that GWTW was the greatest film of all time. It's one of the few movies that is both enjoyable for wider audiences while still being deep enough for the film snob types.

  • IMDB says it's 226 minutes plus Overture, Intermission and Entr'Acte but it is definitely more than that. I have it in DVD and have watched it a couple of times. And yes it's more than 4 hours.

  • wow i would give anything to have been around when this movie premiered! what an experience it must have been- watching it for the first time on a theater screen!

  • I wish they would play it in theaters across the country again

  • I always cry at the part in this film when Scarlet is in bed, calling for Rhett, and nobody can hear her. They could have been so happy if somebody would have listened. Oh, Scarlett had too much pride for her own good, but that is why Rhett loved her. This movie is timeless.

  • Yeah, in the book she wanted to call for him but was scared because she didn't think he'd come but either way, if she'd called or someone had heard they would have been happy together. If only Mammy could hear!!!

  • This is an example of a movie that has not aged.

  • Greatest story ever!!!! I still don't know if I prefer the book or the movie. Both of them are so great!!!

  • it has an aweful ending tough. :( just aweful

  • Scarlett O'Hara is my horse's name.

  • I can't count the number of times I read the book and I much prefer it to the movie, although Clark Gable is the greatest!

  • yeah, the book is amazing and has a lot more detail and beautiful description than a movie could ever sum up.

  • I HOPE that the film industry scan the original negatives of the movies before releasing it to B-DVD, bringing all of them to Full HD.

and yes, it's possible, 35mm film can be easily converted to digital HD.

Imagine watching gone with the wind, wizard of oz, chaplin all in HD!!!

  • well, warners just announced yesterday that they will release 5 disc blu-ray sets for GWTW and WOZ to celebrate their 70th(!) anniversaries this year, so your wish is granted!

  • read the book, it is so vastly different from the film...scarlett has 3 children ( a passell of brats) as she is wont to refer to them, ( her first at about 16yrs old and she marries 3 times)...the book is a time capusule of a world long gone..a world that is erm...gone with the wind.

  • it brings me back to my childhood... i miss it

  • i wonder who was fliping the pages? lol

  • this is my bestie friends fav moive she says i quoet "THIS IS THE GREATEST MOIVE IN THE WORLD I LOVE IT IT IS THE BEST JUST WONDERFUL" yea and i have to leson to tht all day lol but u gotta love her! lol

  • i think that is an exageration best movie for 1939

  • Yes, I also think it is a very good movie!

  • for its day, not now,

i dont think anyone would want to sit through the original 4 1/2 hour version nowadays.

  • well me and best friend does! y stop in the middle of the movie? lol

  • It's 3 hours and 45 minutes, not 4 and a half hours.

  • hmmm thats why i have it on vhs tape and its 4 hours and 26 minutes?

stop searching on wikipedia i think i should know i have the damn thing.

  • I didn't just now go to Wiki. According to IMDb, it's 226 minutes, which is 3 hours 46 minutes. But with your VHS, it might've included extra things (?).

  • omfg

dude why do you always believe whats on a webpage.

did you know imdb and wiki are written by random people?

    take it or leave it,

the version i have in VHS

    is the original,

and its nearly 4 1/2 hours long

  • I think that yes, some people would!! ... this movie is quite good, and if you look at other movies of that time (like Casablanka, 1942, 102 minutes) that (were) are also great films, you see that gone with the wind (1939) is still listened and loved by a lot of people... and, myself, I have seen both movies, and I easyly listened trought all the GWTW film, even if I had used the fast forward many times in casablanca (and the last film is shorter!)!!!

  • Great picture! In fact, it's timeless. Costumes, sets, cinematography, and soundtrack are all wonderful and beautiful, yet it's the story and the acting that take it to the next level. Most people have heard about Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable's performances, but I was pleasantly surprised by the supporting cast as well, especially Leslie Howard, Hattie McDaniel, and Olivia de Havilland.

  • Lovely! I remember watching the film when I was only ten I used to consider it a cartoon recorded on a tape just like the other cartoons we had then as I grew I began to understand it's no cartoon at all. Truly an epic, one of a kind.

  • beautiful film ...

  • this is no trailer .... see it and then rated n00bs ...

  • It is a trailer but of old times.

  • i love the book and the movie

  • I'm going to see the Margaret Mitchell house! I've seen bits and pieces of this movie and read a bit of the book and I think it's great!

  • i love this movie. it's a classic and utterly beautiful

  • Gone with the Wind is my all time favorite movie! i can watch it over and over Again and ball every time.

  • I finally finished to book last night after starting it last September. I cried so hard! I can't wait to see the movie!

  • well, dont waste one minute, you can watch it online here:

    blogger-films.blogspot.*com/2008/10/gone-with-wind.html

    (erase the *)

  • Or you could do things legally and run down to Blockbuster.

  • a man like Rhett Butler, what a gentleman.

    in my dreams:(

  • omg, cry everytime (no dont jump, dont jump !) lol

  • it wasnt a story about slavery and the civil war it was a story about a girl in the south during that time...

  • FUCK YOU FREAK!

  • You have to view "Gone With the Wind" for what was and when it was produced. It was THE ground-breaking cinematic epic of the era. You can't compare it to today's movies. It's like seeing "The General" and not liking it because it's "too slow" or "silent." Dennis

  • my goodness, Rhett Butler is a sexy man.

  • This such a wonderful movie. Thanks for uploading this.

  • RIP Fred Crane

  • you dont know what your saying. this shit is better than the crap of today

  • Back in 1939, this was high tech, that's why it's a classic! I agree that it may be slow compared to today's films, but it was ahead of its time.

  • Ignoring your foul and illiterate (which is what the former is) language, wait till people 60 years from now laugh and cuss at your contemporary movies. They'll think it's a joke.

  • How did they have these effects back then!????!??!

  • What effects? That is just a book and someone is turning the pages with their hand.

  • oh okay lol because it was high quality

  • I haven't seen this movie, but I love the book so I really, really want to! I'm gonna see it as soon as possible.

  • you HAVE to see it it is by far the most amzing film i have ever seen in my life and its filled with every aspect of cinematic entertainment one cdould ever hope for i am absolutly inlove with the book adn movie and i hope u will be 2!!!!

  • God, what an AMAZING film!

  • it's not one of the best, it's the best movie ever

  • agree

  • I heard the audience in Pasadena jumped up and cheered when they saw this trailer. I t was a surprise after the main picture. Somethig the studios did untl the late 70s. That's how I was "Raging Bull",

  • i read the book its a little bit different than d movie ! should they be the same without differents !

  • When ever I think of this movie I think of the vivid colours of her dresses and how she used to say "Ashley"...and the saddest part when her (Scarlett's) daughter died!!

  • Best movie ever!!! : )

  • This movie is definatley one of my favorites from since I was a kid. I have never seen such wonderful action incrediblely mounded into a 4 hour film. Only David O' Selznick could've thought of it.

  • What is it about?

  • You've never seen Gone With The Wind!!!?? I seriously advise you to rent/buy/download it...take a day off fromm what ever you do...turn off your phone and make sure you have enough food with you in your living room and watch it...and try not to read about it before you see it...it is an amazing movie!!

  • I was just talking to a girl the other day about this movie and she has never seen it; someone really needs to slap some culture into her!

  • coooool

  • This movie was released, in 1939.Great art doesn't gets older.I watched it, here in Brazil, when I was a child.I cried when the little Scarlet's daughter died.

  • VERY ROMANTIC MOVIE...!

  • Excellent movie of all time. Nothing could ever equal this movie. Also, this movie made history by having the first black women get an Oscar.

  • 0:57 is my favorite part of the movie

  • amazing (*_*)

  • this is the most beutiful movie in hollywood. It's too old, but is exelent

  • this was when hollywood made some real life shit.

  • When Margaret Mitchell's name came on the screen, you never heard such a sound in your life. They just yelled, they stood up on the seats...I had the [manually-operated sound] box. And I had that music wide open and you couldn't hear a thing. Mrs. Selznick was crying like a baby and so was David and so was I. Oh, what a thrill! And when "Gone with the Wind" came on the screen, it was thunderous!

    Hal Kern the editor's comments...

  • This is when Hollywood was more wonderful

  • dont swear

  • No, it wasn't.

  • yes it was

  • Where did you learn this? The first movie ever was "The Great Train Robbery" from 1910

  • No. Thomas Edison made the first movie(The Sneeze, 1901?). This was the grandest movie ever made.

  • i was named after olivia de havilland

  • wow - me too! (no joke :O)

  • Imagine selling a film like that nowdays. Using a book to describe epics like Narnia, Lord of the Rings, etc. could be worth wacthing. A much better chioce than the silly trailers so common nowdays.

  • it's too bad classics like these come once every lifetime.

  • I don't like chick flicks at all. but this is THE exception. anyone who likes this movie has every reason to. its da bomb.

  • i fell in love with this movie becouse i'm a southern girl and my favorite time in history was the southern belle days

  • this movie is absolutely amazing.

  • I want to see this movie since im from the south and what not.

  • You mean you haven't seen it? Well it's definately worth watching!!! If you go to my channel you'll see it. I've uploaded the whole movie.

  • It's the music.

  • I think it's because of the fact that it's a romantic movie and because Scarlett wears so many pretty dresses.

  • Because it embodies everything in life. Love, joy, pain, death, etc. Everything!

  • Because it's pretty much the greatest movie ever made, thats why...silly.

  • can i know why I cant see the premiere of the film though i was able to see it yesterday. they said its a private video. ???

  • the best movie ever

and clark gable was one of the most perfect men i've ever seen

  • This movie and book was GREAT! Amazing characters, and time setting. I loooooove it!

  • tried to see this on a plain.. if every scene was 10 seconds shorter..

  • lol.

it was compulsory to watch this movie for history class.

    :D
