I own a se1x and a voyager. They both sound very different. I prefer the voyager for leads and percussive sounds, and the se1x for sub-bass. The se1x has the "all buttons mode" with the oscillators, making a very thick sounds, but uses digital VCA / mixing section (not 100% analog)... the envelopes are much slower as well... so you can not get really fast perc sounds as on the voyager. Great video!
I have a voyager, an arp 2600 and a roland system 100 in my set-up, and ive always wondered about the power of the SE range of synths. It sounds analog enough, but i can never find one for less than 800 pounds so i dont bother getting them.
For bass he is realy powerfull and it sound great . The SE1 is a clone of the minimoog with , dont forget that , one more oscilator than the moog . This is the "plus" of the SE1 and i would like to have a minimoog to compare sounds ... but i can never find one for less than 1500 euros so ...
Send me your mail with a midi note sequence and i could record sounds from my SE1 and swhow you the result .
Minimoog is a 3 oscillators synth, the difference is that Minimoog's third oscillator can be turned down to be used as an LFO. While on the SE1x there are 3 dedicated LFOS.
I do use a Model D and an ATC1, still want that SE1x but i know SE synths are more polite and precise. Which can be a quality when coming to mixdown sounds together. A model D is really raw, wild and snappy in comparison but considering SE1's price they are no brainer.

you've got good ears , i use a delay and a reverb at the end . I use a simple TC Electronics m300 , the SE1X sound is realy good and you don't need a complex fx processor to create an amazing sound !
I use an analogic mixer , and just turn the aux1 knob to add the fx. the aux1 is connected to my tc m300 .
Sorry for my english , if you have any other question , ask me . I did this moovie test to help people in their chopice.
Avec un peu de graves, ce cerait mieux :-) Merci, qd. même, pr. la démonstration!

FIY an SE1 is not really a Minimoog clone, for many design reasons. S.E did one though, called the MidiMini.
They used to rack Minimoogs too, they called it MidiMoog.
And SE1 does not have an additional oscillator. They both have 3 oscillators
