Worked in a Lafayette Store back then. We used this song to demonstrate speakers. For the good acoustic sound. Still puts a lump in the ole throat. It's a three cat nite in OhIO. Peace.
Still sounds great after al these years-I was 8 yrs old when this came out, listening to it on those AM transitors radios-riding our bikes here in Southern Cali-good times/memories!!!
WOW! Que hermosa canción una de mis favoritas y mi grupo que son unicos saludos TDN siempre los tendré presente.dsd SAN JOSÉ BARQUISIMETO VENEZUELA..!
@SIGNALSTAT - this concert is ten years ago , so he still looked great there, I saw TDN live in Sept 2011, sitting at front table , shook his hand , NO FACE LIFT ! he looks his age 69yrs.:( concert was GREAT though.
Regardless of the "Chuck vs. the other two" back and forth, I really like this version/video. Mostly because it features their original organist (Jimmy Greenspoon) and guirtarist (Michael Allsup). TDN's backing band was just as awesome as the "three" singers.
Anyway glad to see this is back up, love this version, especially Jimmy's solo. Amen!
Watching this makes me wonder. Back then these guys borrowed tunes from the great writers, put it thru the 3DN blender and came up with HIT RECORDS all day long. Today, what do we get ? CRAP. Is it lack of great writing or just bad musicians ??
@gaspo2180 Today the musicians are actually very good, more learned in many ways. I am 53 and remember 3DN (my first album was Golden Biscuits). Producers have killed music today as has iTunes etc. Conceptual albums are done. Today we would have no Dark Side of the Moon, no Pet Sounds, and NO Sgt. Peppers. 3DN did a great job blending great songwriters with their knack for great arrangement. I miss the era and the talent (must include Richard Carpenter here as well). Great memories.
@gaspo2180 --- BOTH! Pop talent has slowly gone downhill since Disco & Punk hit in the late 70's. Hair Metal & 80's Pop still had some talent, but Grunge (not all) killed it, and 90's Alt-Rock had a little talent even though it was highly-derivative rehashed Beatles music. After that, it's been mostly garbage with studio FX. With the exception of Dave Matthews Band, Dream Theater & Evanescence, there's little talent out there & the latter is a studio group at best, but that's only my opinion.
@BAMAMARV Yeah BUT !! Doesn't this video PROVE that these guys STILL HAVE IT ?? The musicians and the music is still there. I think the writing is the problem. If Paul Williams wrote this song today 1.11.12 and gave it to TDN, we WOULD BUY IT and LOVE IT !! So sad, because I would like something new to listen to.
@gaspo2180 - When it comes to classic artists & their talent, you're preaching to the choir, as TDN & most of the late 60's, '70's & 80's artists were very talented IMO. But from 1990 to now, most musicians aren't very talented --- they know just enough to get by & convince people they're pros with their image. Give them an acoustic guitar, steal their makeup case, cut off the autotune & other FX, cut their hair off & cover up their tattoos & you'd have a crummy performance in most cases.
such great music, thanks for posting, it is always great to go back in time with these great tunes of the 70's and 60's. Best tunes of all time were in these 2 decades.
@fh346 Ric said of his version up front that he had pieced it together in an attempt to synch the song with the band (and he did a remarkable job of it, in my view).
As to your question: Truth be told, I'm not sure. :-/ As I sit here tonight, I don't clearly remember the nature overlay, but it's quite possible it was there the whole time and it's simply my memory which has failed.
I DID see the nature track, however...and so in my mind I put the two together here. Right or wrong.
Thanks for all the nice comments everyone. I was 12 when I went to the Three Dog Night show at the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles. Rock and Roll is my Life. Please check out my site I have been working on a long time..... rockwindow com Thanks
@rockwindow10 - Thanks for uploading ! do you have "Try a little tenderness" from this same concert ?(Cory Wells sings) - I've seen it before on TV- LOVE Cory Wells.
Actually there is a Austrialina saying of a "One Dog night" a "Two Dog Night" and of course our guys "Three Dog Night"! They have the best 2 singers with 21 top 40 hits..can any other hope to say that? They proved that you don't need to keep a sinking stone, these two guys have made it! Now the Rock adn Roll Hall of Fame need to induct this band and make it official!
used to love Chuck too back in those days , but having seeing them perform "live" in recent years now , have to say that Chuck is the least of the three . Drugs took the best of him !
Can't wait to see Cory & Danny this Thursday Sept 8th !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@teegaro It is obvious you have not heard Chuck singing lately. As much as I enjoy Cory and Danny, they are but a shadow of what they were when Chuck was with them.
@thechzman - nobody , no group can be as good as they were 40yrs ago in their prime , I've seen them three together once and I've seen their recent acts - have to say I STILL love TDN (w/ Cory & Danny ) but Chuck' solo act w/ a second-class back up band was... embarassing ! truth - plain and simple. Sorry.
@teegaro Never heard ot TWO Dog Night. He added a special dimension to the group the others just can't sing and a persona like none of the others either.
You did a GREAT job with this!!!!!! It's too bad they took off this one from how it was....I didn't get that because they're Other stuff from this concert is available on here....Anyway you did this good...AWESOME!!
This song was written by Paul Williams, who was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night (06/15/11). Paul Williams has written many hits, including The Rainbow Connection and The Loveboat Theme, which he performed with The Roots.
@sixpack07747.......That's intresting. I didn't know he wrote this one. I did see him the other night and he was good. He was a little older but aren't we all!! Anyway thanks for your comment I learned something.
What a great band they were. Drugs suck!
