Every person has their own trading style. No one system is good for all. find what works for you, thats all you need to know, the rest is up to you to figure out.
having been a trader for the past 10 years, I see where you would have this view of trading. and it is true that there are a million ways to make money on the market. what I find to be really interesting is the fact that trend trading is the easiet. most profitable way of trading!!
Trading is dead as it is completely manipulated raped and pillaged by automated models that go unregulated.
It is all a farce now and the exchanges clearly know how bad it is but need all that volume to support their stock value.the only thing market regulation depts. investigate at exchanges is how many trades per second is fed to their Electronic system versus how many cancellations. The exchanges are terrified if ever proven the level of manipulation going on for fear of a clampdown.
Definition of a trend is higher highs and higher lows. Therefore, when you get your first low penetrating below the previous low, the trend is done and you exit. Easy.
>or how long it will last
This is true. You should not concern yourself with this question if you know when to exit.
