  • Lovely. A joy to listen to.

  • one of the better lute players out there! enjoyed the vid, someone that can actually play! and its even in tune!

  • This is absolutely awesome! It makes me want to write fantasy stories.

  • Put this thumb under the index and do the passages th-index-th-index... and you'll make a great lute player!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Nice playing. Please tell me, where I can get TAB of this tine?

  • @karahan246 Thanks :) I am using the tabs by Wayne Cripps through Lyre Music Publications. (very inexpensive too, around 20 USD i think for the whole Rowallan manuscript.)

  • @karahan246 Thanks

  • Whereas the piano is more about co-ordination and concentrating on many things at once. Anyone could play a part of any phrase in a piano piece with some success - the notes would sound. But with some other instruments, like the guitar, you really need to tame the hands into making some very counter-natural positions, which takes a long time.

  • Ok, regarding kendalismyname's piano lessons, I don't think it's fair of violatone to question kendal's teacher's ability, becuase there's every chance that this is indeed a case of a student having a natural facility for the instrument and for music. Why some people have a greater natural tendency in that direction than others is the subject for a huge debate, but it does happen, it's not the stuff of myth.

  • Beautiful piece and playing. Playing the lute requires the heart to go with the practice.

  • I don't know you but I love you!

  • Nice

  • I only can repeat the words that are yet said: praise the lord: you are gifted by jesus whithout any doubt - thank you million times for having played and uploaded your marvelous video. Yours sincerely Tobi

  • Jesus had nothing to do with it. She practiced and became good. No one is born able to play.

  • It is true that she wasn't born like that, but some people can practice 24/7 and they still won't get it....

Every little thing has to do with God, even musical skills.

  • Honestly I don't know of anyone who practices dilligently with proper instruction who is bad. I must say that God is not in the picture here. If God were in the picture, the gifted would need no instruction and need not practice.

  • I'm sorry, but I don't think you're being honest with yourself, as a matter of fact I think you're being INTELECTUALLY disonesty...

God is NOT a robot, He made us His image and likeness, that means we have our free will to choose to do good and use the gifts given by Him to us or we can try to find excuses not to do them...

What is CREATED has to have a CREATOR, hopefully one day you'll admit that...

    God bless!

  • Pardon me that I answer so late - perhaps - and you can trust me when I say I regret - in your life Jesus does not appear. But I'm sure when I say that our Lord reigns in the artist's life and gifts her. Close your eyes and listen; it's not only practice it's a kind of confession...

  • I guarantee you that it is only practice. Would it were divine, (the gifted) would be able to pick up instruments without instruction or practice and play perfectly. As I have yet to see such a miracle, I must say that the only way to proficiency is hard work.

  • I'd like to say that talent is not all simply 'practice'. A friend of mine went to school for music, but struggled so much he had to admit it was not his gift. I began piano lessons almost 2 years ago. I didn't sit down and begin playing flawlessly, but I went on to advanced songs that my teacher even has trouble with, within weeks. Some people are musically gifted. That doesn't mean you don't need to practice of course! "Use it or lose it!" She's musically gifted, and works hard.

  • There will always be people who can reach the goal faster. But given proper instruction and due diligence, anyone can also reach adept proficiency. Also if you're out playing your teacher after two years of study, I'm forced to call your teacher's skill level into question. Having a gift means not having to work for it. To say someone has a gift denigrates all the hard work they put in to get there.

  • I didn't say I was outplaying her. By no means. Just playing songs that she can't (she has smaller hands). Having a gift does not mean you don't have to work for it (or at it). I don't mind saying I've been gifted with any talents I have, even though I do work hard to maintain and improve the ones I care about. If you're talking about Christmas gifts, that's another story altogether.

  • kendalismyname and voilatione,I agree in part with both of you. You've gotta bear several things in mind though.Like which instrument we're talking about, what physical demands they make of you. Some people do have an uncanny ability with the piano in particular, having a feel for where the notes are or being able to translate heard music into played music in a way most people can't. (continued)

  • It's important to stress though that probably anyone who puts in the time &has the genuine desire to master an instrument, and crucially is very attentive to erroneous technique can get there.

  • Madness.

What is up with all the zealots in these comments? She practiced and became good at it because she wanted to be good at it not because some fag swished his fingers and she magically played excellently. Your missing the points guys, especially mafiaazulusa.. someone is not a non-believer if they say that god does everything. He must be a boring guy to run around swishing his fingers at people, and granting all their wishes. That explains ww1 and ww2 for you zealot madmen

  • Does EVERY video on youtube have to receive at least one comment with the word 'fag' contained in it?! Is it like a rule? Is even the friendly world of lute music not immune to those angry characters on the internet who actually think they can change the world by belittling people and using the unhealthy word 'fag'.

  • Can't we for once just enjoy the music? There are zealots, ok, but you won't change anything for the better by attacking people who might be lovely human beings despite not believing what you do. Let them believe what they believe, don't rise to it, just relax and be happy :)

  • beautiful !
