  • hey anthony my fav thing to do is get get stoned and watch ur reviews! <3 u

  • on my end, i love the squeaky cleanness of this album. you're eloquent with your words sir, good game.

any thoughts on Twilight's second LP?

  • YOU SIR are a choder of the ages. Stop listening to metal, stat

  • @TheFpb2 he said the PRODUCTION was too clean, but the vocals were to high in the mix.

And as far as the rest of your comments, you sir, are an asshole.

  • what is that intro song??

  • you see, I actually wanted to hear a review.... and then I get blasted by over a minute of absolute bullshit. Rated Down asshole :@

  • 6/10 because you kept comparing it to previous works... why not just take it for what it is...

  • i'd say that two hunters is better than ..cascade, it feels a lot more ritualistic.

  • king of /mu/

  • @TheFpb2: Yeah, guess I was drunk that night. Can't even remember writing this lol! "Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog" of course.

  • Kind of an old video to respond to, but how are you feelin' about the new Altar Of Plagues album "Mammal"?

  • who is this fuckwit and why does anyone care what he thinks about bands/music?

  • @LionheartXXX

Because of the same reason why people read/Watch reviews of ANYTHING.

If you're not interested, then leave.

Some people like to know other people's opinion on stuff.

  • Dude! The title of the song is "Above the Sea OF Fog"!

Usually I ain't that picky, but I just love the title. :)

  • Dude, seriously.......anything less than a 100% rating on this band is a FUCKING INSULT!!!!!! WITTR SLAYS!!!!! \m/

  • @TheHabsfan1993 /mu/

  • Who the fuck gives a shit who likes what band? If they make good music, respect.

  • wolves in the throne room putting out one of the best black metal albums ever??!?! are you fucking serious!? they are the sole reason that hipsters are pretending to be into black metal now, they are terrible, they are a fucking joke, and now so are you, good day sir.

  • @hjorskbonaparte hahahaha dude grow the fuck up! black metal is not some fuckingburzum-mayhem soap opera (although those bands rule)

  • fuck,,, this creep is still around.yawn yawn. someone shoot him pls.

  • @Olzannemops why? he's great.

  • my favorite black metal band of all time.

  • And this is how you come to find out that Black Metal is a joke now a days....

  • who gives a fuck whats kvlt

  • great i always appreciate music nerds.

wolves in the throne room rule. they like rudolf steiner. they live on a farm.

they're sincerly into the occult and not just to be posuers and pretend to be evil.

    thank fuck.

  • it was a little disappointing to be honest,it wasn't memorable to me,I never finished hearing the whole album. "two Hunters" was the best!

hopefully they will go back to that direction.

  • I didn't notice anything wrong with the sound

  • Before crying foul about about a bands change in sound ask yourslef these two questions:

    Is it good?

    Do I like it?

Answer yes to both then you have nothing to complain about.

  • Nice prayer flags! :D

  • Omg. I always hated Wolves In The Throne Room. Didn't care for them live.

  • Nah dude, I think you got the wrong idea from them by what they meant on releasing this album. IMO, I thinkthey released black casacade, the way it is, to show all the fucks who say WITTR isnt "black metal." I think Black cascade is great because its wittr showing us some good bm and saying "hey fuck you guys, see, we can play black metal." Its to the point and its a good album.

  • Appreciated your argumentation about the sound "issue". That's a really interesting point.

  • I really don't see what you mean. I believe Two Hunters had a much cleaner production than Black Cascade. Also, I recommend listening to Malevolent Grain if you haven't already. You might enjoy that a bit more.

  • Your opinions about music are stupid.

  • anthony, ure a great guy..BUT I fear that dissecting tracks like this may not be very good for "the music"

  • Its funny how I watch his newer videos and hes pretty straight forward and kinda chill. In this one hes very vibrant and alive.haha

  • I do not agree with the statement that you gave to that track. It was too superficial, what about the sentiment of the song?

It is one of the greatest songs of WitTR. The atmosphere is the best you can get. The well hidden details of the effects guitars are amazing. I love this song.

  • @salazaro in my humble opinion, this song is the best on this album, along with Crystal Ammunition, but for me the ambience and the MINDBLOWING riffs arent rly there....personally i can never compare that song to, for example, Behold The Vastness and Sorrow, or I Will Lay Down My Bones Among The Rocks and Roots.... i still think Two Hunters is the best combination of a very fantastic sound, and the mystic and "natural" ambience that WITTR masters injecting into their music.

  • The songs arent as good as the first two albums, simple! they arent as epic, if this was the first WITFR album then aye, id be impressed. Its good, not brilliant like the 2 previous ones.

  • @Raveneyes cudnt agree with ya more man, for me this squeaky clean production on black cascade doesnt rly suit WITTR cuz in my opinion, after their 1st 2 albums they kinda set this picture for themselves that they're "big" and mysterious. when i look at the covers of Two Hunters and Black cascade, i feel that the cover of Two Hunters is surrounded with much more mystery, hell i even wish they kept their old logo which IMO emphasized the band's spiritual approach towards the music much more.....

  • @Raveneyes and i also missed the ambience and the atmosphere on that album, where are the great reverb effects that we've heard on Two Hunters and Diadem Of 12 Stars??? but im not saying that they should go low-fi or anything like that. i just think that they shudnt have made any production changes on this album compared to their 2 previous albums, and the orchestrations arent as epic as those Two hunters as well...

  • @Raveneyes WITTR, i was drunk last night lol, cheers 95Bcool for the replies!! most awesome of yourself! i agree with the replies wholeheartedly :) and you are subscribed too :D

  • @Raveneyes hahahahaha man thanks for the reply back :D, and i hope that WITTR doesnt continue in that direction in their next album, but there's one thing for sure. the weaver brothers RULE.

  • You can eat a goat off this album it's so freaking clean :D

  • best metal band of all time. i like black cascade more than two hunters.

  • I do agree. Two Hunters is a bit more mysterious.

  • I just saw them play this live a few weeks ago.

It is the single best live show i have ever seen.

  • This is a cool watch...Would you review the band OAK from Baltimore...They are very interesting...Thanks...

  • 50 years of metal and you pick 2 Hunters as the "best" metal album? Delve deeper before making such statements as a) it makes you look like you don't know what your talking aout and b) it's frankly embarrassing.

  • @bumzurvaj I think he tends towards more left-field stuff to be honest, so it's a reasonable claim of his own belief.

  • @bumzurvaj ONE of the best. Which is very true.

  • @bumzurvaj Your a fuckin Downey. Your giving him shit for saying that its one of the best metal albums, while you say that metal has been around for 50 years? There was no metal in 1960.

  • WITTR actualy really got me into black metal,

Gonna see these guys live next month in Utrecht ^^

  • This is good stuff. I have actually never heard this band till now. Thanks for the review.

  • Look at the painting that the song is named after and how clean it is and then listen to the song again with that in mind. WITTR are a soundscape of ripe decay and decay has many dark and light tones in nature. The are top notch at what they do.

  • Well, then I say "clean" I'm talking more about the production, bro.

  • So am I. There's tons of guitars stacked on those songs. The production has to be decent so it doesn't turn to mud. I see where you're coming from too though.

  • Well, it was more atmosphere I as looking for. I thought Two Hunters had some great reverb effects on it that made the band sound so much "bigger" and menacing. I was kinda confused as to why they'd go for a drier approach on the production with this album.

  • i loved the intro...did Jumblejunkie do it for you?

  • Troll harder.

  • @theneedledrop lawlz were had

  • @100sandblast LOL I have nothing against Mudvayne or Slipknot or any other mainstream metal band out there.. Hell, I like Slipknot a lot, but if you think that they are the heaviest or "good" metal compared to most of the other metal bands out there, then you're wrong.

  • @100sandblast Those bands are fake metal assholes.

  • @100sandblast mudvayne? Dude you know your on a video full of black metal listeners.

  • @100sandblast

    Ahaha...ahahaha...AHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  • utterly insane.

  • Wanderer above the sea of fog is my favourite song of all time!

As a fan of more traditional black metal, black cascade just appeals to me much more.

  • You do make a good point in saying that there is not much grit on the album, however, the sort of ideology around which Wolves is based is a really organic, naturalist vision of black metal. In fact they've been viewed as "hippies" of the BM scene and express great interest in bio-dynamic agriculture and the teachings of Rudolph Steiner. As is evident in their music, they're not really into the traditional, nihilistic BM. scene If there's any lack of "grit" on this album, it is 100% intentional.

  • Well, I'm not saying this direction is unintentional, and don't assume I'm asking these guys to go lo-fi or something. I'm just saying the previous two albums seemed so much more harsh, ambitious, and grandiose. That's pretty much what I miss.

  • Don't we all...

  • Two Hunters was got me into black metal as well, and it's still one of my favorites.

To the people who compare this band to Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, I have this to say:

At least Wolves doesn't record those shoddy attempts at all electronic ambient music.

(I love Burzum's music, but his electronic compositions lack the subtlety that makes ambient projects like Lustmord truly exceptional)

  • Very tidy. I think this might just be the band I'm looking for to get me back into BM.

  • Do it! Definitely check out Two Hunters or Diadem. They're both very colorful, complex albums.

  • Thanks For The Review!

  • No problem!!!! :-D

  • Nice name dropping, none of these bands is even similar at all in style to the style WITTR play; yeah I'm sure Drudkh is also an attempt to recreate Hvis Lyset, douche.

  • lmao..."long songs" they cant compare to Dream Theater (song lenght wise)

  • Well, can't disagree with you there.

  • "you could eat a sacraficed goat of this EP"... best line i've ever heard lol.

  • Glad you dug it! :-D

  • Two Hunters is just too hard to follow - IMO

  • Really? I did find the LP difficult at first. It's just covered in distortion and reverb. But the LP got more familiar with each listen. Now I'm in love with the fucking thing!

  • this record is good. A little more straight forward than their first 2 records.

If you think this record is clean, this record is very dirty compared to a lot of the stuff coming out. I love over produced shit!!

  • Hahaha! Yeah, you do dig the produced stuff. I know this ain't the cleanest song, and clean doesn't always equal bad; however, I feel like this is too clean for WITTR.

  • Thanks for the plug ! I'd give this track about a light 7. The one after it was my instant favorite of the LP. The clean sound would have bothered me a lot more if the songs weren't so well orchestrated and epic. I really enjoyed how the songs just went for and pushed traditional time constraints aside. I love my metal to be long winded. It was cool to hear somebody trying to add some colour to the genre. No ones really done that yet. Of course purists will be mad, but that's what they're for.

  • That's what purists are for?!? God, do you come up with these philosophies while you're at work? Best one-liners!!! +1

  • I liked Black Cascade alot, not as much a Two Hunter or Diadem but still, I thought it was great. Anothony - can you provide a link to your blogtv sesh tonight? : )

  • There really isn't any black metal bands that have songs that go on for more than 10 minutes. And the part where you said you could eat a dead goat off the album was so funny!!! XD

  • yes there are numerous bands with trakcs longer, but not THAT much longer. were talking like 20 minutes max. (excuse my english, im norwegian)

  • lol, 2 WITTR reviews in the same day :D awesome! well, Black Cascade for me was amazing, but not as good as in Two Hunters... BC for me lost its 'fantasy' in it that TH had the perfect amount.

i got my copy of Black Cascade, out of all places, in Hot Topic [yeah i know... -_-] but i got it none the less...

if find that WITTR is either you hate them, or love them...

  • I like weird black metal. Folk/Experimental/Epic. Stuff like that.

  • Examples?

  • try the band Portal... pretty wierd expiremental black/death metal. hell, the singer wears a clock as his head... cant get any wierder than that... lol... well, maybe it can.

    heres the song Glumurphonel live

    /watch?v=emrBZZtGFgI

  • Folk- Finntroll(void of blackenedness sometimes), Moonsorrow, Windir. Experimental- Arcturus, Solefald, Klabautmann. Epic-Summoning.

  • listen to shrine dude...Portal was surprisingly pretty good.

  • Everyone is so stoked on WITTR, but I still haven't gotten into them. I've listened to them a lot, I guess I'm just missing something.

  • Maybe! *shrugs* I'd check out Two Hunters if you haven't already. If you don't dig that, i dunno what to tell ya.

  • no offence to the fans but I just find black metal to be a tad bland like the vocals were annoying but the instruments from this track weren't half bad but emperor that band I find to be very unique it has a creepy and exciting atmosphere to it I've only listened to their song "empty" which is fantastic, I really need to look up more of their material...good review kind sir.

  • Oh no! The offended black metal fans are coming! Take cover!!!!

    :-p

  • haha, Empty was from Emperor's newer days... if you went back to their early years, you would find their vocals to be annoying as well [if you count the vocal style in WITTR] and nothing alike in Empty.

i recommend you checking out the singer of Emperor's own band named Ihsahn... if you liked Empty, then you will like Ihsahn as well...

and no anthonly, i am not offended :-P

    thats just opinion... lol

  • @shrineofmadlaughter will do, btw I can't really judge this genre because I don't listen to it alot but whatever I'm down for anything so I'll check out "Ihsahn"
