Accelerometers have been around for decades. Anyone with basic electronics knowledge and an Arduino chip could make a controller that does 10 times what the Wii can do. Put them on your shoes and you could walk through your own 3D world. Put one on your hat and your view of this 3D world is controlled by head movements. Whatever you want!
