It wasn't the MUSIC they didn't like; it was THEM. The scenes you're referring to were of the "Jesus Controversy," wherein John observed that the Beatles were more popular [not better] than Jesus. A bunch of small-minded people staged Beatles records/memorabilia-burnings in response.

They and other British Invaders, were instrumental in getting those of us in the good ol' US of A to start thinking outside the box.

It also sparks the interest of todays youth in the beatles, which can only lead to more and more people loving this music.

I do agree that remixes mark an interest in their music, from today's youth, but what I see here is the same lame job done than with Hello Goodbye done by the Jonas Brothers, you can't take the vocals and re-write the entire song, it's just shocking and completely unprofessional. Beside a DJ-style mix has nothing truly musical about it. I'm a musician...

The reason I heard most is: "Well, it's a modern version, so it's better!" Modern things are not automatically better, they're just new, nothing else. The proper way of doing a cover is to play the song EXACTLY as it is, but with your style. The style determine a good cover or not.
