I think it would be annoying if it kept beeping every time you scratch your balls while drinking a soda with the other hand. Of course you'll be steering with your knees.
hand pressure on the steering wheel? Feet pressure on the pedals?... ok, I drive with one hand, as for pedals what if you set the cruise control and don't need to touch the pedals?
What happens then, as you have clearly defeated the main sensors....
I find the wife stops me from snoozing off 100% of the time - I'd happily sell her to MB.
@Corp0ralPunishment There is a very intelligent system in the Mercedes Benz that's calculates just about EVERYTHING that could make the driver tired or drowsy. For one, it detects how you are handling your car with the gas/brakes/steering. But NOT only that, it also detects if your tired by the music you been playing, your climate control, weather or not your heated seats are on, and how long you have been driving, and etc to that! It can calculate just about everything.
@joewillgo These things always sound good on paper and perform splendidly under lab conditions. So once it has detected that you steer eratically, accelerate violently, brake suddenly & sharply and are listening to Enya - what does it do then? Decide its a woman driving and shuts down the car? Or can it detect if the person sitting in the drivers seat is under the influence of alcohol and stop them driving the car? What about people who drive with one hand or don't squeeze the wheel...
it works by meazuring (is that a word?...sorry, english aint my mother tongue) hand's pressure on the steering wheel, feet's pressure on the pedals, and it was 2 cameras in front of the driver, checking the eyes and the winks frequence...u know germans....they have something for anything =)
I´m telling you IT WORKS!! 70 000km per year with the new E-class driving taxi in Finland... and it has "woken me up" several times :)
